Just as the title says, here's my Art major for this term:
http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/16038462/

It's going to be a piece of 'graphics' work, printed at 1250x870mm on either laminated photographic paper or vinyl.

There's a link to my 'visual diary' pages for this term in the 'Artist's Comments' section.

"Comments and crits appreciated." :pleased:

dude thats just dope! :thumb: well done!!!...

my only issue (and this is being major picky) is that the clarity of the water is somewhat blured compared to the city... i know its in motion and all but it just seems a little too blured in areas where a little clarity would give it that "realism" and much more of a powerful wow factor... still though its brilliant, love the animal/demon style face in the water... amazing :beam:

I second what soulty said - that's amazing :D

But I think he's right about the water, it does look blurred in some places. If you'd fix that, it'd be perfect :thumb:

wow oh wow * infinity

Nice! Only thing is (and it's really picky ;)) that if there was a wave that big, the water would be washed away from shore before it got close, so there shouldn't be that water line in front of the wave.

But woooooooooow. Let me reiterate. WooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooW.

Great job man, has to be one of the best photomanipulations I've seen come from someone off this board. The lighting manipulations are great. I luv the contrast, you can just feel the mood changing.

The only problem I see is the clouds in the distance seem a little outta perspective. Great job though :D.

Awesome. Where are you going to school?

The only thing I don't like is the biblical quote, but I guess that's just me.

Again, amazing piece.

I think the quote adds to it. Gives it a little more meaning.

That's weird. As much as I love, and I mean really love your other works, this one doesn't do it for me.

Maybe because I have a mixed feeling about the city, the perspective are scattered, I think I can make out two totally different vanishing points, and maybe a third one for the wave.

Maybe it's because the shadow on the 3d'ed building (which look nice btw) don't match the position of the sun...

Maybe it's because of the wave à la 'the day after tumorrow' (more than being a reference to the tsunami disaster). Or simply that religious phrase.

Color-wise though, I quite enjoy it =)

You know it's good when Simplistik is raving about it :P

Man, I can't stop looking at this. It's awesome. There should be like a "Best artwork of Kirupa" section like the "Best of Kirupa" is for help threads, but only for members' sites/work that is great.

*tries hardest to practice modesty*
LOL! I think it's a generally accepted fact that I am a tad bit above the class :sure:. Graphic Design isn't really a wide-spread skill... that's probably why only me and one other guy are doing Graphics this year - everyone else is doing painting (but I officially loathe painting). Some of them are pretty good painters, though :)

mlk: You managed to nit-pick it to pieces:). I did realise the differences in perspective while I was making it - the image on the right seems to have been taken from a higher angle, and slightly rotated. Plus, that wave was originally a photo of one about 1.5m high :P
Anyway, I couldn't help those things. Not unless I took the photos myself.

Thanks again, everyone:beam:

That is a brillant piece of art Ya3. The contrast gave the piece an extroadinary effect supporting the overall tone and message. I liked how you also included the biblical reference in Luke's Gospel creating it on two levels. You could say the fine detailed jaws may envoke the Apocalpyse and the end of mankind.

Your teacher will certainly love it and its great how you are able to do this within school, I mean I don't do Art because we don't have resources and its more of less learning or "studying" renassiance art/painting with written work than graphic work. What school do you go to by chance?

Cheers.

Thanks very much :)

That's a shame your school doesn't focus on practical artwork. A real shame. We do have quite a bit of history and theory to learn, too, but we only have history lessons for 40 minutes per week. There's the odd test and in-class essay, and the exam at the end of each semester, but the rest of the time is taken by studio work.
I go to a regular government school here in WA, btw. Art does, however, seem to be given a lower priority when it comes to resources. I mean, we've got Photoshop 4.0!!!!!
Bleh.

lol, 'you make me wanna lala' :| so meaningful and thought-provoking... :P

lol well from what I can tell from my mates who do Art, I think they do much pratical work but not much is focused on it in terms of Graphic work. There current assignment or whatever they are doing is based on painting and if good, well it might considered in the Art Gallery for Yr 12 students. In terms of integrating New Media with Art, theres still a lack of research or research based on teachers. Our school has the new Studio MX and Photoshop CS but its never used inconjuction with Art, more IT. Even my old school's art room was twice better than the one now...

edit: Why cant we have regular research assignments instead of in class ones? Ohh yeh, I forgot.. the HSC... *plays dark vader intro*
