Hey everyone,
I apologize for this, but we changed forum hosts, and the backup used was one from about 5 days ago. Therefore, any posts made in the past 5 days is, unfortunately, missing :(

I tried to get the latest backup, but problems with switching the forum forced the hosts and I to use a working backup from a few days earlier. I wish I could have done more, but alas, I couldn't do anything to fix this. My bad everyone.

Hey, at least, we can start afresh with a whole bunch of new conversationalizing =)

Cheers!
Kirupa :hat:

oh yeah... just recognized the 64... on the IP... cool man.. what made you switch?

kirupa
March 10th, 2003, 10:35 AM
MT felt that it would be better if both the site and the forums were on their servers so that it would be easier for people to recognize them for sponsoring the kirupa.com site.

Cheers!

what's weird is that there's two kirupaforums right now... you can't access the main page on the old server, but if you follow the links from the email notifications, you can get to the forum on the old server....

quite messed up..

lol

lava
March 10th, 2003, 11:34 AM
And also... this forum is sending out emails, but they're pointing to threads in the old Kirupa forum.. therefore when you click on the link, it will take you to an incorrect thread (seeing as how we're back 5 days and all...)

Kirupa can you please add a section to the old forums or something. Actually Kirupa you can move everything over to the new forums if the old forums are still up. I know how and it would be quite simple at that. Just let me know if you want any help. You can reach me on AIM @ Liquidphreak1220

BTW - ask phil how cold it is in Chicago today (20 F)

and it was 1989... I will never forget that couple of months... We lost the WS, and the bridge fell down...

I was at home, playing my video game, waiting for the World Series to start. The only damage was that Phredd (our goldfish) almost came out of the bowl (I had to grab him) and a wine bottle broke. Then again, that was 6 months after I left my wife so I didn't have much to break...lol...

the apartment complex had a couple probs, but mainly everything except the bridge and the freeway was overblown by the press...

4 houses caught fire in the Marina, and you'd think the entire town burned down...

62 people died. almost all of them on the Cypress Freeway when it collapsed (5:18 PM). It would have been a lot higher, except everyone in the Bay Area was home watching the WS...

the day baseball saved lives...

Wow Rev - that is a lot of people that passed away.

You are right though - baseball did save a lot of lives that day.

Did you know that the very first baseball game ever played was about 7 min from my front door :)

(you probably didnt know that because you dont know where I live - but still.....) ;)

I would love to go to cooperstown someday. Baseball is such a great sport - I used to love watching and playing it, but now only playing it. It has become way to boring to watch - catching thehighlights are nice though :)

mdipi
March 10th, 2003, 03:56 PM
yeah its really cool there! but with our fast paced world baseball is a slow paced game...thats why it get kinda boring to watch. i watch my Yank's though =) although i am closer to Boston...but 1918 was the last Series win, and i hate their fans and their players....:bad:

Holy sheot I feel old!!! You were born in '89??!? Oh my geezus! /me falls over....

reverendflash
March 10th, 2003, 04:10 PM
baseball is the perfect spectator sport. You can do a multitude of things while watching the game. Try doing anything during the last 2 min of an NBA game (which still takes 45 min to play for some odd time and space phenom)...

In 1993 I went to 60 games at Candlestick... I still haven't paid for a game at Pac Bell... it's just a shopping mall in which they play baseball... I do go and watch thru the right field fence for free tho...

Rev I agree with going to the games - I love the atmosphere at the stadium, but watching the games on Television, I just cannot do it anymore. I used to watch every Jays game whenever they were on, but I cannot do it now. Like I said though - going to the game is a different story - I love the feel of the ball park.

I think the best stadium I have ever been to was the old Detroit one, just knowing all the history there - it was great.

I often use randomly generated password I get by default from somethings. Like even now I use a password I got from an angelfire account I set up like 6-7 years ago - just a mash of letters and numbers, but Ive found a way to easily remember them so its good :)

you my friend, are crazy!

I use pretty much 3 passwords for everything. One is under 6 characters, one is under 10 characters and one is used for... well I'm not going to tell you everything.... ;)
