2D scrolling Platformer

I've tried search engines, and loads of other crap- I finally find a tutorial on one and it's complete crap, the script comes with about 8 errors!
Back to step1
Anyone know of any good tutorials on how to make a 2d scrolling platform game ?? (No tiles!)
Or, even better show me how to make one...

I hammered out the gravity for one of these platformer games in 3 days...not too hard...just think in terms of variables. I would tell you what I did but Im sure JoMan went through alot of work and made something more complete.
