this isn't really a computer & games related question, so i didn't know where else than random to put this, a mod may move this if he thinks differently.

while searching for my phx jersey, i came across some dvd boxes of the jamie foxx show. didn't know they were still selling these, but now i'm really interested in getting these boxes.

now the problem is as follows, they are all region code 1 (US & CAN) so i can't play them on my dvd player, i need region code 2. does anyone happen to know if there's a way around this? i checked ebay.be but no jamie foxx show dvd's :( if anyone happens to know if it's possible to play code 1 dvd's on code 2 dvd-players or maybe where i can find code 2 dvdboxes of his show it'll be highly appreciated

Do you have a DVD writer in your PC?

ooh ooh ooh!
i did this not long ago with my DVD-home-theatre thingo.

with most players, there's a special code to unlock ALL regions.
just do a Google search for your dvd player.

example: Philips VX2000 region unlock code

...there's quite a sense of achievement in h4x0ring a dvd-player... :beam:

the answer to fes's "do you have a dvd-writer" question, you were faster as me :P

woah, really? so you can play every dvd you like now? oh man, if that works, as soon as you become a mod, my vote is yours ;)

Well my solution is not as simple as reconfiguring your DVD player but will certainly work.

You could rip the dvd to your hard drive using a freeware application called DVD Dcrypter
Available here
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_decrypter.cfm

In the decryption process you remove all region codes.

Then you could use an application like cloneDVD to compress the video onto a standard DVD + or - Blank.

here is the full tutorial.

The process takes about a half hour in total, but will work ;)

If you need any further instruction just PM me :thumb:

woah, thx man, if the reconfiguring doesn't work, i'll most certainly keep your way in mind. i'm going to order the box probably this week or maybe next, so you'll hear from me ;)

I used DVD Shrink, it has a means of bypassing the region codes.

don't think they have it outside europe, it's a Magnum, but i can't really remember the type. i've found some codes yesterday, so that should probably do the trick :thumb:

You're allowed to change the region code of your DVD player a total of 4 times, straight off the Windows control panel. Not very useful in this case, but someday it might be handy to know. :)

really? it's just in the control panel? never knew that, that's good to know, thx
