Ok here's my first draft... the header will cycle through images in the two areas you see... they will consist of a large zoomed out view, and also a zoomed in detail of the larger one (hope that was clear)...... anyway, heres a screen shot:

OH... and there won't always be that much text and info... thats just an extream example putting maximum info into the design at once..... usually there will be much more negative space and more graphics.

One thing I noticed... the domain is davine.net, but the company is called Devine?
As far as design goes, I love the design, with the exception of the black criss-crossing lines in the section titles, and the texture of the dark greenish color in the header.

Great first draft! I think the section with the logo looks like its missing something. What does it look like angled and 3-d and glowing like the sign your making for them? I like the grate metal look but it doesn't really look like it fits the theme. How does it look without that brown section right above the menu? Also the menu could be a bit taller to stand out a little more. Also why is there empty space above the content and under the header? Other than that the main content are could use some color variation to spice it up maybe changing the background color of the most important content areas to a dark burgendy or that purple color. hmm a picture of the store might look good under the logo. Looking forward to the updates,

Well, it's quite nice. I like it. But I'd like to make some corrections, thou. First of all, I don't like the font you've used in the menu. Why not use a "special", "eye-catching" font for the menu. The nav bar and the content mustn't look the same. Then, if we're discussing the header, I'd like to say a few words about it. I think you must choose what color should be there, in the header, #E9E6B9 or #BD92A6. But since, violet isn't used anywhere else, you'd better stick to beige. I don't know why, but the logo "de vine" looks a bit rough. I think, that's because of the color. Just imagine: a good wine is something sweet, mild, gentle, which has a tender and sometime sour taste. You must feel this atmosphere, so thet to succeed.
I also think, the dark crosses you've used in the headlines, e.g., "New This Week" are not suitable here. Spoil the general appearance. The bottom logo "de vine" is not of necessity. And the text "Copyright 2005 | Devine" isn't aligned properly. Must be in the middle of the line.
Overall, I like your concept and design. Really nice work. Keep up coming. ;)

looks pretty dog-gone good - might want to lighten up one of the content backgrounds to help draw your eye's focus to a certain topic - right now my attention is diffusing across the entire page.

Good blend of subject matter with consideration for design.

Thanks for checkin' it out! Yeah, I agree with you regarding focus, or lack there of... Yeah this mock was maxed out on the info being displyed... when I do the actual site there will be much more space to help direct your eye along with formating and graphics it will definity help the users focus.
