Here is my new logo. Which logo do you like besides the red one? Anything to improve on? All critiques are welcome!

( And besides the black ones, what do you think of the red one? )

Cant u do the tail towards left and then the text can be on the right side
Also the purplish color doesnt seem to fit well
But generally its good

personally I would move the D up a little so it connects with the top of the M more "fluidly" and you don't see a little hump but other than that look good and maybe look at doing the swish to the left and text on the right as suggested and see which you like better may balance it out more or less you never know

I don't think the J in the logo is clear enough... I thought it was a part of an L until I looked at your username.

I don't like it at all, sorry. It looks like you made it in about 2 minutes. You don't seem to have put alot of thought or design into it.

Sorry to be harsh but I don't think that is a good logo.

Any of these any good?

the red one is definitely worth getting into, but the fact that the 'd' is slanted gives it a bit of an unstable feeling (not what your logo should convey =))

Try more iterations of the red one !

I still don't think you're on the right track. How bout I try my hand at coming up with an idea for you? There's no shame in getting someone to give you ideas. The idea for my logo (the "P" with the crown that everyone loved so much) came from 3rdeye (LINK (http://www.kirupa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=71846)).

What do you think? Can I give it a shot?

Personally, I say the red one is great, and I like the slanted "D". It gives it an overall modern feeling, which in the current design world, is very good. However, these are a bit simple, and although I don't like designs that are too busy, these could still use some work. Keep trying though, as they're looking good.

Thanks, but i dont know if the Studios before the J looks good.. And before you were saying seomthign about a purplish looking color? what was that about? :sure:

Ind Thoughts
February 12th, 2005, 03:46 PM
Agh! Well, it looks good...but it's a bit confusing at first glance, as the brain is used to reading left to right, go down a line, left to right, at least with fonts the same size. The big "S" messes me up. Could be just personal preference, though.

Krilnon
February 12th, 2005, 03:47 PM
I don't think the S before the J looks right... makes it seem like MD Studios J

mdj - you want a modern style don't you?

mdjstudios
February 12th, 2005, 03:52 PM
sure, i think modern would be best.. somethign i can possible resize and stuff so it would be vector graphics. but if you really want to do somethign else you can do that too :rambo:

I dunno, I was bored so I made a semi-modern logo. It was on Fireworks though, so it's pretty bad. I'm too lazy to try to get my computer with Photoshop CS all up and working. Also, bare in mind, this logo took about exactly 60 seconds.

lol. I've been trying to occupy my time all day, and every minute of pointless pseudo-entertainment is good for me! Wheeeeeeee. Wow, I must be really out of it today...stayed up way to late last night. Normally I act quite proffessional.

Not bad Adam.. Although the out circle seems a bit unnecessary.

Adam
February 12th, 2005, 04:12 PM
What do you mean by out circle? I just noticed you seemed to want to use a circle in the design.

mdjstudios
February 12th, 2005, 04:14 PM
I mean the outer circle. The thing with the black and white glare thing. The circle i think will be a keeper unless its a rounded rectangle which might not be bad idea either..

Ind Thoughts
February 12th, 2005, 04:17 PM
Yeah, it needs the red for sure, but that black shiny rim was uneccesary. Think you can show us what it might look like in a rounded rectangle and a circle w/o the rim?

Adam
February 12th, 2005, 04:17 PM
Yeah, that's just me...I used to run a 4 colour process printer from my home for personalized stickers. ( http://www.colorstickers.com/ - yes I did that website years ago with Flash 4 :P ) The stickers with the outline always seemed so much nicer to me, so it's a look I've kinda stuck with - plus I would charge more for a border :P

Here you go. Ultramodern and just a bit abstract. Inspired by www.rinzen.com (http://www.rinzen.com).

Feel free to use this idea. It needs some refinement but the feel is there. If you want I can fix it up properly for you.

It's set at 96% width.

Here is my newest version! What do you think?

paddy.
February 12th, 2005, 05:36 PM
The one in the bottom right is the best but the problem is that it no longer says mdj in the shapes. It's just a bunch of curves. It looks nice, it's just too abstract.

mdjstudios
February 12th, 2005, 05:39 PM
Hmm okay ill put the mdj part back into a whole piece thing but i dont know how to arrange the letters for the mdj part. Plus, isnt yours really abstract too?

mdjstudios
February 12th, 2005, 05:48 PM
How bout any of these?

paddy.
February 12th, 2005, 06:16 PM
Mine is created from the letters "m", "d" and "j".

Here is how it works.

awesome style and design

looks like COJ tho...

booler
February 12th, 2005, 07:15 PM
thats looks pretty good what does it look like without the "block" underneath? then we would be able to tell better I think

edit:

maybe change the 2 right side blocks of the d to orange to kinda show the flow the the M ???

mdjstudios
February 12th, 2005, 07:21 PM
crap, okay ill post a few variations of it..

paddy.
February 12th, 2005, 07:22 PM
Good call on the top of the "J" mdj. I think having the block under studios makes it look less like an "M". Maybe take away that block and make the bottom block in the "D" orange. That way you'd see that it was supposed to follow from the start of the "M". It's looking nice though.

EDIT:
Crap! Too slow. :P

February 12th, 2005, 07:31 PM
Hmm, i dont think people are going to understand the mdj part... i need a new design maybe paddy :trout:

paddy.
February 12th, 2005, 07:35 PM
Good. I've decided I like that style so much I want to keep it for myself. ;P

I noticed that your site design is very modern. Maybe you should design a more pictorial logo to go with the style of your site. Unless you're re-designing the site of course.

mdjstudios
February 12th, 2005, 07:42 PM

sorry i don't like anything i've seen on any of these pages. there isn't any form, fuction or thought that's gone into any of it. all I see is text.

hl
February 12th, 2005, 08:41 PM
getting better

but i think the whole j coming down from the d makes it look somewhat like a P

a logo needs to be clear so that people can understand it, just about immediatley
