Here is my main page of my website I am creating. The site will be in flash and I am currently working on all of the transitions. The images under the logo are for time, date and experimental works. The tabs at the top are temporary but on rollover will slide out a bit to the right then 'fold' back over across the white portion of the site. Let me know what you guys and gals think PLZ! :)

This should go in Showcase & Critiques but I like this a lot. Very good unique design. After adding some Flash I'm sure it will be even better. Are the tabs going to be icons as well eventually? Good work :thumb:

I like very much how u made that sphere (so tell me, how u did it?).
There is one think i don't like...it's a cool graphic but his kind is seen around thousand times...why don't do somethink innovative?

Kind of hard to tell without the actual motion, but I like the concept a lot. Some definite potential here.

I like the design in general, but I'm not fond of the orb/sphere/whatever-you-call-it. Simply because it's been done to death :)
but maybe that's just me :) Still looks good tho!

:sigh: there are tons of tutorials on how to do a glass sphere.
As for the design I like it, I think it's nice, simple, smooth, and has good potential to be just as impactful. I wonder though... what does a black and white, print version of your logo look like? Anywho... good job, nice start... I think it will be pretty sexy once it's all said and done.

it's a good concept and I think you are headed in the right direction. The sphere looks good to me but i would have to agree with the others that it's been done to death.
Still a very unique and effective design. Keep it up and keep us posted.

thanks for everyone's response, didn't expect this much just after lunch :snug:
As for the tabs, they will be icons eventually.
As for the glass sphere logo, I know that it is overkill. I have made some tutorials for it but the market that I am in hasn't really seen this and it appears new and hip to them.
As for the logo, I have finished several types: black and white, greyscale, b/w reverse, two color, three color, full color. I appreciate the concern with it. This really is the new 'version' of the logo, updated from the flat vector logo I use for my printed media.
Again, thanks everyone.
btw, so the glass/plastic look is getting old, what is the next thing?...back to minimalist japanese design, grunge distress, what does the future hold hmmmm... :asian:

That is very very nice! I really like it. Very unique.
I guess the only thing I would "complain" about is that it is hard to tell what the "S" is in the background of the globe.

I agree with GL, can't see the S. I would almost suggest removing the XS all together.
I don't mine the overall layout. How are you dealing with content?

In my opinion it's not a problem that you don't see the s, without the XS it would just be to empty. I really like the design, very original, good job!

I like it. Keep us posted with progress and when you launch the website :)

Thanks for the comments...I will store them in my journal :book:
not that I am 'that' important that I have logo recognition but several of my clients will recognize the 'xs'. I should try however, to move the 's' so it is more easily recognizable.
Content hmm...I have several thoughts on the layout for content but everytime I think of one, I remember that another site used something similar. I am trying to be somewhat original in this. if anyone has any ideas that would use some cool AS I would link you and give you props.
Thanks again! :player:

I like the sphere thing, it looks cool. However, I think it's dumb when people put the current time or current date on a webpage. I don't go to a designer's page to find out what time it is.

Aye, that is nice, i like it...but i dont think it looks like a website, it looks more like a splash page? maybe if you added a bit more structure to it?

Morse, a lot of times you can showcase your skills by putting items like a closk or a countdown or a calender on a site. It may be used a million times in the design world but that world is very small. I agree with you that no one goes to see what time it is on a page but it's just another easter egg for the viewer.
Remember that I am going for a minimal look on the base page itself. I want the viewer to be actively involved in my site, I don't want ANYTHING opening unless they request it. It's all about beign clean and total control.
I realize that many of the ideas that we all get are a little bit of the ideas of others but there is a giant world out there that has no idea of the things that designers are capable of. Go to a local realestate business and see their "brand new updated flash site!" and with no avail it's pathetic in our design terms. I am just trying to show my clients, both current and perspective, the possibilities.
BTW not to be a stick in the mud but I have had clients ask me if I can include a countdown on their site b/c they saw a clock on my old version.
I feel bad now, thanks for all the comments though. I really appreciate them.

I agree with morse on that one. Show them nicer AS effects and hell, they'll know you could put up a basic clock in your flash page.... I hate these clocks as well, especially since my computer clock is most of the time wrong and the webpage then displays the wrong time blatently.
Nice image though, I really want to see it animated.. especially that little logo !
