Sorry for the vague thread title.

But every so often, mostly during the mornings, a preview for a movie (ranging from Alien Vs. Predator to Shallow Hall) automatically begins playing in my windows media viewer. I downloaded the newest version of wmv, so i think this is what is causing this.

Does anyone else have this problem? How can i fix this?

Here is an example of the most recent one that had shown up. (http://www.snorepez.com/wmvProblem.gif)

Thanks

open windows media player, go to "tools" then "options" then "file types" and uncheck the kinds of files you don't want associated with the media player.

Would the file type be "Microsoft Recorded TV Show (dvr-ms)"?

The file type would be "Windows Media Video file". Also, you shouldn't be receiving pop-ups of WMV files when you bootup - even with Windows Media Player 10. You may want to run Ad-Aware and related programs to make sure that some program is not forcing your PC to display movie trailers without you wanting it.

Thanks Kirupa and PR.

I ran adaware, and i got four spyware all entitled "calalemedia". So i ran a search on my computer, found it and deleted it.

Hopefully that'll fix this problem. Thanks :)

Well, it's actually not just on start up. It normally happens during the night, around 4 in the morning, when i leave my computer running. But i tried both yours and kirupa's suggestions.

We'll see if it works during this week. :)

Sorry to dig up a very old thread, but I have only recentely began to get more of those automatic Movie Trailers. But, I caught it two times just as it was about to play (an icon showed up in my system tray), and the program is called both BroadcastPC 2.0 and BroadcastPC.tv (the name of the hover caption above the icon in the systTray said different names the two times).

With that new information, I searched around and found their website, but it does not say how to uninstall this program. http://www.broadcastpc.tv/1/

I even sent them an e-mail demanding to know how to uninstall the program, as it was unwillingly installed on my part. However, after nearly a month, I am yet to get one response from them.

I have ran every spyware and virus checker I have, but none have solved the problem.

Any ideas of how to maybe dig deep inside of my hd to find the core file, or something along those lines?

Thanks a lot.
Victor
