Just sayin' howdy. I've been around the as.org forums for a while and thought I'd diversify ^_^

A bit about me:
I've been playing with flash since version 3 or 4, but started working seriously with it in Flash MX. My educational background is in music composition (Oberlin Conservatory of Music) and digital media (Fullsail Real World Education :b), so I know a little about a lot ^_^

I work with Flash MX 2004 professionally and script in AS2.0. The majority of the work I do involves dynamic data stores and flash integration (RIA sort of things). My other language proficiencies include PHP, mysql, JS, and a variety of web MLs. My company's URL (obligatory) is http://www.frontsidedesign.com/

My former career was in digital effects for a high definition post house, so fire up the video questions if you have em ^_^

Hobbies include books, music, anime, hockey (and other sports), beer, scotch, rally driving, motion graphics, pretty much anything that's art related.

So anybody wanna date? :b Thanks for reading this far if you did, and it's my pleasure to join all of you bright young individuals (the old ones too ^_^).

SlowRoasted: Thanks for the kind words. I'll be happy to answer any question I can ^_^

GreenLantern: I'll make my own judgement ; ) It'll take me a while to get acclimated, I can normally only handle one board at once ^_^ And thanks for the comment on the site!

We're strongly looking towards v3, focusing on accessibility and exploiting stateful/deeplinking capabilities, as opposed to the "it's pretty" approach we took on v2 ^_^

Annexion: I preffer to be called 'bi' :b

Phat7: Thanks! Great sig : )

Cyberathlete: Thanks, Travis does all our sound design and music though ^^ I haven't written a note in 4 years : ( As far as midi creation goes, there are a variety of approaches that each have their own strengths. I'll list the big ones and what they cater best to : )

Cakewalk: Learning curve is very comfortable, score mode works well, good for your bread-and-butter midi needs.

Cubase: Learning curve is very manageable, but not quite as flat as Cakewalk's. A lot of producers use Cubase for relatively simple electronic music work, it has a strong grid editor for doing drum patterns and integrates well in a studio environment.

Logic Audio: Steep learning curve, but extremely powerful. Algorithmic score generation, great integration, very flexible. I wouldn't suggest it as your first sequencing software, but if you look to get into more complicated sequencing then it's the one to try : )

Hope that helps ^_^

Welcome man! We're the "crazy" flash forums group. Well, maybe not as crazy as the NewGrounds forums, but a lot more helpful. I'll catch you in "Random" or "Computers and Games", or on occasion, in the "Flash MX 2004" board. It's a good community here.

T-O: Thanks for the welcome ^_^ I do most of my work in FMX2004, but I'll try and keep up with the Flash MX forum too : )

FlashNewbi3: Sorry it hurt you ; ) Like I said, v3 will be a friendlier, easier, more accessible site when we get the time!

kirupa: thanks! You've been of unknowing help in the past : )

Disco-Stu: I feel welcomed! It seems like a lot of fun, and good people. You mention the Computers and Games forum, and I know a guy from CS named Disco-Stu. You're not him are you? : )

tonygarcia: thanks, and thanks for the gaming tuts, they're well laid out : )

Colin: I'm not leaving, just expanding ^_^
