So My roomie was on my computer... undermy username.. and somehow... he was using FireFox.... and somehow changed thr profile to default. So i go on.. and all my stuff is gone and defaults are set.. i'm mad... so i try to change the profile...but the FireFox profile manager is no where to be found... i finally fix it by finding the source of the profiles and deleting the default so it will prompt and let me choose mine...

Any body else know people that screw stuff up for you?

When I had 3 room mates freshman year, I simply logged off and logged back in with a non-adminstrator account before I left the room. Any friends who were in the room could use my computer without causing any problems for me when I got back :)

through collage I had many roomates... up to four. It was ALWAYS abundantly known that my computer was off limits. I made this so clear that they were actually scared to touch it - ie if we had people over and were listing to some mp3s off my HD someone would aske ME to change to a certain song, or ask if they could. Plus I pass protected just about everything.

So, while I feel for you... I can't say anything but: you have to make it more clear that your comp is off limits and also pass protect anything you dont want touched. I mean it is your property... would you be cool with someone driving your car while you were out?

Seriously though... I hear the annoying roomate thing, specially when it comes to computers... but it all comes down to how valuable your 'machine' is to yah... I mean any given day I have 30-50K worth of ongoing contracts, that with a few clicks of the mouse or some retarted <but not malicious> actions could set me back atleast a couple of weeks... and if I've been lazy with the back-up, 4-5 months. Needless to say I can't afford to let roomates use my machine... unless they can give me a deposit :) 'course I don't have any roomates... and for some reason I let my g-friend use it... hmmm... wonder what this means...

i hate my sister as well, she's always snooping around all my friend's info and my documents and pictures and music and stuff
