Before I say anything, I DONT WANT A STUPID MAC vs PC DEBATE.

Anyway, i'm really looking foward to Tiger, before I saw Steve J's Keynote at the Macworld Expo, I didn't think much of it, but after he had gone through some of the features, I was really impressed. Spotlight looks amasing, what a sweet tool.

I'm definatly gonna be buying it when it comes out :)

Hey Butters, can you recommend a program for advanced C++ application programming on the Mac? Or should I just use those tools provided?

Nah I didnt see that one, did you see Dashboard? How sweet does that look? The ripple animation when you add a widget is so cool.

Apparently we may be seing the PowerBook G5 in the 2nd half of this year:

I'm looking forward to dashboard so much. The animations for things like the Flight Tracker are simply awe-some

Yeah, been thinking about getting a Mac for a second machine, but Tiger makes me want to hold off a bit. Very sweet updates.

Hehe Butters, if you saw the keynote where he revealed Tiger you wouldn't have been impressed by it. They had almost the same presentation.

Yeah as the other MacWorld in London.

But he's not talking about that I think -- He's talking about the software itself not the Keynote.

eh?:h:

Anyways, to me, Tiger doesn't really seem like a huge update. Dashboard has always existed as Konfabulator... Safari RSS could be downloaded seperately once it's released - same with Mail, Quicktime 7 and iChat AV. Still, Automator looks like it could really be useful...

It's nice how most upgrades and new features in Mac OS are always actually *useful* and *practical* things, rather than just "NEW! Clunky StartMenu" and "NEW! FisherPrice skin!":sigh: ...not refering to any particular OS there... ;)

Speaking of which, I don't really like the new Tiger GUI :( It seems to have lost the sleek, clean, minimalistic feel that Panther had. Now it's all glossy and showy... meh

Oh, and is there a new wallpaper for Tiger? Can't wait to see what they come up with this time :)

I reckon it will be a pretty big update, it's the biggest OSX update yet, over 200 new features.

They have made several major changes to the actual system too, for example Spotlight isn't just a regular search feature, its actually built into the core of the OS, which makes it incredibally powerful, quick and easy to use.

Automator looks so sweet, as does Dashboard. I think Dashboard is going to be such a handy tool, I love the way it kind of instantly pops on the screen and off again, so you can do whatever you want quickly.

Dashboard is a lot like another program that uses "widgets." I was a little dissapointed in Apple for not first buying out the team that makes that old program.
