Done entirely in Illustrator:

Not nearly as good as, but definitely inspired by Shag (http://www.shag.com/).

Oh that's good, I've seen a lot of vector artwork used in advertising and that piece you did reminded me of it. Good job. =)

 I love Vector art!

That is a great Job Renny.

Hmm, a lush and a chain smoker in the same room... intriguing  :P (sorry just HAD to point something out, and since there was nothing I disliked I had to make something up)

I'm sure my employers are especially thrilled that something called "A Lush and a Chain Smoker" is hanging in my office. Hey - at least I didn't go with the garden gnome theme!

When I get Illustrator (not IF... I will get it no matter what, its just I dunno when I can afford it) will you help me with it ? :beam:

I have use AI9 a few times here and there because a friend of mine has it, so I know how to use it, I just don't know how to create stuff like that :(

My favorite part is the city sky line in the windows. Very nice detail. I would maybe changethe color of the pants on the back girl. The green seems to bright.

Wait, clear something about Illustrator up... Is it like FH where you use a tablet?

lostinbeta
February 27th, 2003, 10:28 PM
Illustrator can be used with a mouse or a tablet :sure:

And Morse: your footer is oversized and lags my system A LOT. Can you please change it?

February 27th, 2003, 11:48 PM
WOW! I absolutely love that style!

Could you post the source vector file so I can dissasemble and learn from it, pretty please?

The only change I'd make is to the two green ceiling lamps. The perspective seems wrong on them. It looks like we're looking up at them, but really we're looking down on them. So in other words, I'd nix the lighter-green ovals. :)

I didn't use my tablet this time. I find it easier to use my mouse when doing vector.

Vector source files? It's not that complicated... just draw what you see... or imagine in this case. I think the key here was deliberately trying to not draw a "realistic" picture. Look at the walls and figures... all slanted and uneven.

What tool do you use to draw Ren? Pen tool? Pencil Tool? Brush Tool? (so I know what to practice with if I ever get a chance to use AI again soon)

And this is exactly why I disable footers :)

lostinbeta

But I enjoy looking at footers! Although with the current state of my computer I might have to disable viewing them on my side :( :*( But seriously, My scrollbar, mouse, and everything lagged when going around on that page. It didn't happen when I was replying or when the second page came up and his footer wasn't there. And it doesn't happen anywhere else, so I am guessing it's his footer :-\

The pen tool is your friend :) I tried the pencil and brush tool with my tablet... but it didn't produce the results I desired (the line would adjust itself to some form that I usually didn't like). After trial and error, the pen tool/mouse combo has been the easiest... at least with my preferences.

I figured it was the dreaded pen tool :-\ I have so many problems with those things...lol. Ok, I will practice that in Photoshop, it might help me better in Illustrator :) Thansk! :)

I've never heard of Kelly Hyatt, but again, this piece is along the artistic styling of Shag (http://www.shag.com/).
