Hi,

I have been drawing/inking/coloring my own anime comics, and I have a huge problem that I want fixed: 'How do the professional Japanese Anime artists draw such perfect, beautiful lines with ink? Everytime I draw a picture and ink it, it has bumpy lines. I have had this problem for a long while, and I would like to know if anyone could help me achieve that goal. If anyone could lend me a hand, that would be great. Thank you.

could be that they are using a program that smooths the lines for them, like what flash can do.

well obviously sketch your drawings out first, then go over them w/ a nice inking pen, a techpen is great for that... although annoying. also when you go back over it, you need to make them quicker, longer, smoother strokes... the slower you go the more rigid it will become. also the comics and stuff go thru some post editing as well. take them into photoshop and adjust the levels a little to get rid of some of the rigidness of them. also don't be afraid to get in close and take a soft brush and mask... or erase... some of the ruggedness out.

i also suggest just going back over your sketches w/ the pen tool, which i believe is a common technique, this is the one i use as well.

if you're scanning them in also... scan them in at hi resoultions like 600ish or something cause when you scale it down you'll get finer lines. hope this helps.

i'm not an expert in drawing as i'm more of a designer... but this is what i've done... and it all seems to work out fine.

someone that would be good to ask on this forum i think would be ironikart, his site has some nice tutorials as well... that might help you http://www.nexuschronicles.com/
