Yesterday i decided that I want to be cool, smooth, and good with da ladies.. For those of you who are cool, can you give me some tips? And for those of you who are not, what have been some of your biggest mistakes?
Haha... if you're wondering why I'm posting so much, it's because the project I was working on just got put on hold, and I have nothing to do until 2 (EST), when we have a meeting on what's next.

Just be yourself.. I know it's a lame tip, but it actually works!!
I used to be the class geek, but now I'm pretty good with the ladies :sure:
They don't hate me anymore :P
tip #2: do NOT, I repeat DO NOT use REALLY lame pick-up lines... Just go over and say "hi"...
be natural... and brush your teeth!!!!

These are the most important rules to picking up chicks
-Do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT bathe the night or morning prior to
-Wear very very old clothes with holes in them (it turns them on)
-Read them poetry (preferably that of Dr. Seuss)
-Ask them them how much they weigh (they love that)
-Ask if they have a sister
-Fart and burp a lot
-Most importantly, never be yourself
Those are very very good ways to pick up girls.. its always worked for me!:beam:

Eilsoe is right, just be yourself and people will respect you for that. There's too many fake people around these days, wish everyone would stop it and act like however they want to act.
I act retarded all the time and people still accept me for what I am. =)

February 25th, 2003, 02:20 PM
LOL. Yes, I act retarded a lot too, it's fun, it's who I am, I am proud of it. If someone doesn't like who I really am, then why be fake just to please them. Being fake 24/7 is probably very tiring.

Well, being fake is not necessarily bad sometimes... it helps you practice your acting.

I would be fake for a few select girls in my school *drools*.
Most girls like me, not like-like, that's only a couple, but I'm myself, and it's true that's the best way.
But then of course, don't go saying "Hey I'm a dork that uses flash and plays video games 24/7."
Don't deny that you do it, of course, but you don't have to push your lifestyle on a girl you wanna go out with, just the same with them. You don't want to go to the hair salon and get your nails done every monday wednesday and friday. (and personally, I'm not interested in such a thing. nor their stories of who just broke up with who and who dissed who at lunch and whatnot. I listen though, of course, cause I'm whipped.)
so to sum that up -
1. Be yourself.
2. Use common interests to your advantage.

Being yourself is useful, unless you are a complete a-hole. Don't play games and don't be a jerk. While there are a lot of girls out there that want you to be something you aren't -- they are not the ones that you want to go for.
An example: I have a lot of problems. I have a few mental conditions. I have bi-polar and ADHD. I was abused when I was little in numerous ways. I turned out ok, but I am a little messed up. I was having a talk with a girl that I was interested in and we were being honest and talking with eachother and I started talking about the things that had happened to me. It scared her away. She couldn't deal with some of the things that had happened to me. She wasn't able to seperate the abuse from the being.
My current girlfriend is the exact opposite. She didn't have to go thru the abuse that I did, but she has similar mental conditions. And when I told her my problems, she told me hers and she accepted them as a part of me, but when she looked at me she didnt' see my past or my problems. She saw me. We're both a little  so its all good :)
Being yourself doesn't always work, but if it doesn't then you don't want to be with that girl anyway... :)
I know you started the thread as a joke, but people like Alex need the advice :)

February 25th, 2003, 07:18 PM
Ok, you asked honestly here. So I will answer honestly with the best advise that was given to me and works a charm for me anyway.
1. Be yourself (Its been repeated, but its sooooo true).
2. By being yourself often you stand out in the crowd. If you are just a sheep.... no one is gonna look at you twice.
3. DONT buy drinks for every girl you meet. You will waste your money and girls will take advantage of you. Ask THEM To buy you a drink. Will shock em... they like that. Something different.
4. The Really REALLY nice guys... only get the really really NICE girls. Which do you want? And take it from there.
5. "Treat em mean, and keep em keen" Thats a true statement in about 80% of cases. THOUGH it wont work forever, once you have em, be nice. They deserve you being nice to them. But you gotta get their attention first.
6. PLAY THE GAME!! nothing a person likes more than a good flirt and a guy that likes to play the game. only ... you must learn when the game finishes and when the serious stuff starts. if you keep playing forever sometimes she will just get bored or run out of stamina.
7. Be honest .... nothing worse than a liar.
Thats about it.
lava
February 25th, 2003, 07:33 PM
wow, that was pretty good advice...
I know I started this jokingly (I was actually thinking you guys were going to say 'learn how to play the drums or something') but I'll add this to this thread... be CONFIDENT... ACT CONFIDENT, even if you're not, and go out on adventures... I mean, if you're bored, without a girl or guy, just go out clubbing by yourself, and act confident... don't be afraid of looking stupid.
I mean, who cares? you look stupid already! :)

Well definately. That told me that she was someone that I did not want to be with. I couldn't be with someone who, when they looked at me, only saw my disease and my past. Yeah those were some ****ed up things that happened to me but if I could deal with it she should have been. We had been friends for a while too and she just completely stopped talking to me... it was sad... but it also said a lot. It told me a lot about myself and the strength that i possess for having lived thru it all, and about the weakness of the people around me who can't deal with even knowing that I went thru it. They don't even have to deal with the pain themselves.. they just need to know what happened to me and that is enough to upset them...

February 26th, 2003, 04:03 AM
Wow.. Let's see.. Good advice posted here guys.. I'll reiterate some and add some more...
1. Be yourself? I don't think we've mentioned that enough... If you tyr and be someone else that you aren't.. You're not tha only on who's going to upset with yourself.. she will be.. And a possible friendship at all can be flsuehd down the drain...
2. Don't overdue it.. Yeah.. You love the gorgeous babe who's on the cheerleading squad who can do a split like it was nothing and is flexiblebeyond belief (goes back to sleep to dream again).. Ohh Sorry.. But yeah.. That's not what it's all about.. I've figured out in my past dates that a very nice lady can go a long ways.. And anyways.. There are about 10% of guirls that actually keep their figure and looks throughout college... I wouldn't even bother.. *lmao*..
3. Interesting.. When looking for a gir.. Make sure she has around the same interests as you... My first girlfriend and I broke up because we lost interest in each other.. It was basically sex and boring hpone conversations.. That gets old.. because we really didn't like the same things.. But.. On another note.. My past ex.. (we broke up because she had to go to phili school for arts beta.. You kno where that's at per chance?) I got the best of both worlds.. When I get my scanner wokring I'll upload a picture of me and her at prom.. she's very beautiful.. Loves playing vid games and doing stuff that I do.. Drawing and stuff.. Role playing even too! and She was pacifistic.. And didn't like fighting.. Plus.. She was a fox in ... Ohh never mind ;) I misss her truly.. But anyways...
4. MONEY does not outweigh PERSONALITY... As much as I hate to thinkt hat money wins over girls.. it really doesn't in the long run... Don't make her like you over money.. make her think you are the best guy in the world to her and she'll love you forever.. Make her think you are a bank.. And that's all you'll ever be man..
5. Don't be mean bud.. Beating, Yelling, Arguing and stuf flike that.. All no-nos.. Yeha.. Fighting happens.. But I like to say this.. Most arguments are stupid anyways.. SOmehting happened.. well I don't care.. Blah blah blah.. Yada yada yada.. And then FIGHT! Take a step back.. Apologize.. And talk over it.. Try and calm her down and yourself.. You'll relieve alot mroe stress that way and alleviate it as well.
6. Just like jubba stated.. Tell her everything you can as soon as you can.. If she starts accpeting you for who you are as early as possible..You'll have a better chance of finding someone who will be there for a longer time than just a quickie mart run. The thing that splits most couples apart is not being truthful to each other.. And well.. THEY will find out... Trust me.. THEY will.. So it's useless hiding.
7. Her friends, your friends, priorities.. Make sure she knows your friends and make sure you know hers.. Having open communication with her friends isn't a must.. But you can tell how a girlis really feeling by talking to her friends.. I ocne foudn out my gf was really sad about me leaving for a weekend by her best friend.. So the day before I left I boguth her a small teddy bear and a dozen red roses.. A little card on the teddy bear said " Hold me until I come back to hold you!" The smile on her face brings too many emotions to describe...
8. Don't impress but don't depress... Don't try to make it a point to impress her.. She'll expect that for the entire relationship if you do... But don't go under your tandards.. Show her you.. YOU YOU YOU! Not your fake alter ego or the 20 schizo personalities you have in your emotions.. Just show her what you really are like.. And like Jubba's incident (which I mgith add.. it's probably better off she left you jubba for sake of you finding someone better who will appreaciate who you are), if they don't like you for who you are. then you weren't meant to be.
9. Listen.. Listening is such a great tool.. Alot of break ups occur because the couples do not communicate or one doesn't listen.. Listenign to a girl about how her day is and tlaking with her for 30+ minutes about all ehr problems or anything can make your life the rest of that night or week.. Alot better and free.. And it makes her clear her mind... Don't expect her to listen to you all the time.. But if she does ask.. Give her the truth... Turn off the tv or put down the game controller for 10 minutes to hold the girl in your arms and tlel them how much they mena to you.. They'll appreaciate it then and you'll appreaciate it that night ;) (j/k)
10. Sex isn't everything.. Sex is oevrrated.. Sure it's fun.. But it's taken way too lightly at times.. Foreplay and stuff like that and joking around.. Fine.. When done safely.. It can be extremely fun and exciting.. But don't make it a necesity.. Do something romantic or change up on ideas at times.. Watch a movie while embracing her in your arms.. Or having a girl lay in your arms while you sleep.. It's really special man... And I like it more than sex.
I hope these help you out.. I'm not an expert but after seeing my mom fight with the 4 husbands she's had and how my dad and the 3 wives he had fight and everything.. I know a couple of things here and there.. Hope these come in handy.

As one of the few females on this board, I think it's my God given right to stick my nose in and comment on this one. :)
First off, never try to understand a woman. It's impossible. I don't understand women, and I am one. Some women are nice, others are not, and we all inexplicably flip between the two when we're hormonal.
Second, it does help to share some of the same interests. Not all of them, you need your own space. But if you can have conversations about similar stuff then that's a big help. I love football, and so does my boyfriend, even though we support different teams. We both like playing computer games. Things like that.
Third point is make her laugh. Sure, women like a bit of eyecandy as much as men do, but we're more likely to stay friends and enjoy the company of guys who make us smile. If we enjoy spending time with you then we tend to think of you more highly. No girl (in her right mind, anyway) wants a spectacular looking guy who has all the personality and wit of a dead hedgehog. Just not a turn on. :)
Last thing I can think of is just to be honest... If something's up then say so. If something's good, then say so. We'd prefer hearing the truth than being kept in the dark. I know, I've been stabbed in the back and cheated on by a man. I would much rather he'd said "Sorry, I met someone else" than keep calling, arranging dates then cancelling at the last minute because he didn't have the guts. So talk to us. Tell us what's on your mind.
I guess there's the obvious "be yourself"... Somewhere out there is the perfect woman for you and she'll love you no matter how goofy you can be sometimes. :)

-good manners( they don't smack when they eat, etc.)
-a good sense of humor (no lame stupid knock knock jokes)
-knows how to dance
-is upfront and easy to talk to
-optimist
-doesn't talk about his problems with his ex-girlfriend and their sex life
-doesn't talk about "how good" he is in bed

I listen to a lot of techno like Aphex Twin, Prodigy, Overseer, Squarepusher, Joe Boyd Vigil (i know i know.. if you know him this sounds weird, but hes really good), dieselboy, etc.
I also listen to pretty much anything besides rap and country. My favorite band for years has been Chevelle, up there is Newfound Glory, System of a Down, and a whole lot of other stuff I am not going into. Then there are those bands that no ones heard of :-\....lol.

well that's cool. Mainstream stuff just sucks... it's good that you're listening to bands no one knows... that's how I am.
Hey man, you should listen to VAST... maybe you'd like them.
I'm into Hooverphonic, Telepopmusik, Badly Drawn Boy, Jazzanova, Kings of Convenience, Dave Matthews and John Mayer... of course, also the FOO FIGHTERS! (one of the best rock bands of all history)
I used to love rock, but it started sucking after Limp Biskit came out (in my opinion). Basically pre 97 stuff was really varied, but then all this Nu-Metal stuff started coming out, and it all sounded the same. I hate Creed with a passion.
I'm hoping someday rock will reign again... I love rock. I was kinda hoping that The White Stripes, The Hives... etc would bring back rock.... but to my dissapointment, all those bands followed the same format... just like Nu-Metal bands.
Thankfully, the Foo Fighters are keeping my head above water.

Yes, I hate Creed with a triple passion. I want to shoot myself everytime they play their songs on the radio. Whats funny is the radio station y100 in my area... the DJ actually banned all Creed songs and the new Limp Bizkit song from the station. While he is on air... NONE of those songs get played..... I love it!
I like the white stripes and the hives, they are more unique then most bands you gotta admit, even if they are starting to stray.
I can't stand Dave Matthews, I dunno why, I just can't.
Foo Fighters ROCK!

February 26th, 2003, 03:51 PM
yeah... but I think there's a trend towards 'THE.." bands. I dont know.. they're trying to be too 60s with a combination of early 90s.
I LOVE DAVE!! because from a guitarist perspective, he's freaking awesome at guitar... that's how I got good at playing guitar... I practiced his songs..
And yes.. FOO FIGHTERS ROCK!

Like in the beginning of that Sum41 video they start it off with their agent telling them that there are too many number bands... blink182, greenday74 (or something made up), etc and that the new trend is "the" names... so he named them "The Sums"...lol.

LOL, believe me, in real life I am not interesting. Its one of my quirks I guess :P
I remember having to write a quick auto-biography for my English class, about 5-6 pages or so (which isn't much for an auto-biography) and I had enough trouble filling up just one page because I had nothing interesting to say, kinda funny if you think about it

girls are horrible. i only know a couple of girls who i can hang out with without being afraid of being ***** slapped. Totally. Most of the girls round where I work and all through school have been interested in one of three things - boys, make up or giggling for no apparent reason. It is impossible to have a conversation about the merits of Gianfranco Zola with these people. Or why the latest version of Unreal kicks ***. This is why I prefer the company of men. At least they know the offside rule. :)
hmm... advice from kitiara on how to get girls.. hey, she looks hot from her avatar... hehe. Don't believe that for a second. :) There's a dubious arty black and white picture of me somewhere in the About Yourself thread. Or there's a copy in the Moderators section. You'll notice I chose one that was distinctly blurry. I am nothing if not cunning. :)

You tell me. You probably have to be English to understand this one...
Geezer = A bloke. Bit of a 'lad'. Connotations with "Sarf London mate".
Bird = A woman.
Don't you just love the English language? :)

haha... well, I'll have to judge whether kit is hot or not... And I seriously can't believe we're talking about this. hmm... I'll have to check that picture. But anyways, kit has something going for herself... SHE LIKES UNREAL!!! that's freaking awesome... and you can tell she's smart. To tell you the truth, my biggest turn on is a smart girl... she has to be able to at least keep up with my conversations. And I bet she has that english accent... yeah..
Um... geezer... yes, I know what that means! Simply because I've been listening to The Streets... they're pretty awesome.
I have a question Kit... is Badly Drawn Boy big over there?

To tell you the truth, my biggest turn on is a smart girl... Did I ever mention that I have a BSc in Computer Science? :)
Where's Skeletor..??? By the power of Greyskull... Yes, I used to watch that cartoon too. :) And that other one.Er... Thundercats. Yeah, that was it. With Mum-Ra and Monkian...

I have tonnes of experience on this topic and I don't mean sexual! :P I too believe that being yourself is the only way to go! I hate fake people! Be true to yourself and you'll get further in life! Well I know I've be turned down countless times and I've also been extremely unlucky in that all the girls I have actually asked out have turned out to be real b-?":":%! Not kinding! I know a few tricks of the trade and believe me it's not something you want to experience!
Well I could give plenty of advice based on my own experiences, but instead I want to discuss DANCING! I've been told numerous times by girls that they like guys who can dance and to be frank I was given the gift of humour and I would say good looks, but RYTHM was one thing I wasn't born with! :*( When I go to parties I end up talking to girls and guys rather than actually dancing...I'm the type of guy that doesn't care about how I'm percieved so I have approached girls who I have known nothing about I tried to ask them out, but then they give me comments like "that was cute, BUT I have a boyfriend"! Well what can I say just keep trying and EVENTUALLY you'll find a girl who appreciates you for who you are...I still haven't found mine! I'm 19 and I'll be honest and say that I've never had a girlfriend! Then I'll be quick to say that I have nothing to be ashamed of! I have several classmates who are complete "idiots", yes they might have the "looks" but then there are those who are complete "nerds" and in what I would like to call "desperation and a need be part of the in crowd" they have suddenly literaly taken some guy or girl in the class! I'm not desperate but of course it would be nice to have a girlfriend and not necessarily for sex! Someone to take to cafes and the movies and talk to!
I guess I ended up writing half a book anyway! LOL :P

Huh? Don't understand your first comment about the James Bond and swede link! Plus I'm as non SWEDISH as you can get! SWEDES ARE BORING AS HELL! Very dry and nonspontaneous people! THAT'S MY OPINION! Well regarding the statement that girls are better for more than sex, I also knew that before, it's not something I recently realised!;) I don't agree with you that my comment was a
neanderthall statement
I'd like to hear what the rest of you guys and girls have to say about the dancing! Any advice? I don't just want to step onto the dance floor and jump up and down as if it was P.E.! I would really like to be able to ask a girl if she wants to dance and then really move my body TRAVOLTA STYLE LOL! Stuff like salsa etc! :P

Don't be someone your not. Tell them what they want to hear. Buy them little korney gifts. Don't use pick up lines period, they are usually stupid and give them the impression that you are planning a one night stand. Don't make them to have to pull all the 'moves', your the man, don't be boring. Don't think all about yourself, if you are generous then great things will come in return. Don't talk about past relationships. COMPLIMENTS COMPLIMENTS COMPLIMENTS. You look at another girl and you are gonna get slapped the hell up! Girls like it when you get jealous of other guys, it shows them you care, but not too jealous, in other words don't beat the **** out of the guy. Flowers always score you some points. Don't act like you expect anything at the end of a date, if you get anything act suprised. Practice Practice and more Practice will help you learn the Do's and Don'ts of dating. I'm not a pro, but I have experienced enough slaps to realize what not to do and yet enough call backs to realize what I am doing right. If all else fails bring out the bottle of belvy! Good Luck bro!
