I was just messing around with physics and I came up with this...

If you make anything cool from it let me know!

Here is a new version http://www.kirupa.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif

Now particles don't get stuck in a line on the middle of the volcano (There is no code on the volcano, the particles just got stuck in a line)

Are you using MX 2004? Because when I open it up in MX it says "unexpected file format".

It must be in 2004, because I can open and I use MX 2004.
I think it could be used for some tiki based webiste, or something.
I converted it into MX format for you, not sure if it still will work.

np, I'm working on a particle waterfall now, with rocks that the water slides off or over.

Thx for your feedback

New version of volcano: It's draggable and the ground becomes where ever the volcano's base is, so everything bounces there, anything below it just slides slowly to the bottom.

There's a flash mx version too

thanks :D

but you know, it would be easier to just export an swf :thumb:

EDIT: Hey, this volcano is pretty cool!

I've edited this effect a little bit to optimize it, and customised it a bit too. Probably the biggest improvement is that each particle now has a built in self-destruction timer. The original self-destruction condition was to have moved out of the screen. But if you have a lot of particles moving quite slowly, then it can get sluggy. That's why I implemented it.

Using this self-destruction timer, I made them only appear for the bursting out (approximately) a short fall and the disappear to prevent the screen from getting filled with particles and the CPU knocking itself out.

I also did some coding cleanup, for example combining if statements and dividing and subtracting instead of multiplying and adding.

it didn't quite work the first time, so I refreshed it and it was fine.

cool idea! Next thing you should do is have the stickmen regenerate and destruct on impact with one of the magma bits.

Wudgajustlistentoyourself? I can't do that. That's all AS and stuffs. I can barely make the stickmen run. And that's using tweens. Regenerating and destructing aren't in my repitoire of party tricks.

Great work om3ga!

I like the effect - I think it could be applied to a bunch of different graphics - I'm thinking along the lines of fireworks... the gears are turning...
