Yet another submission of this darn law firm site. They don't like anything I give them. This last reply, they said they wanted something more modern. Fair enough, so here it is:

www.krisgosser.com/gruber/site9 (http://www.krisgosser.com/gruber/site9)

What I need from you guys is ideas on how to spice up the Heading phrases. I want to keep "GRUBER LAW OFFICES LLC." simple like I have it, but I need to think of something for the "About Us" that I have, so it looks better.

Also, suggestions on the placement of the picture (will be random one every refresh) would be appreciated.

sorry Kris but I'm not suprised your clients don't like this design, neither do I

the image doesn't suggest law firm to me at all, it's of a lamppost. I think you could find a better royalty free image on the web somewhere. By the way hint for ya, if your clients requested this image that doesn't mean it has to be the only one you use

the about us image is very hard to read

the toolbar should be under the company name in my opinion

the rollover for the toolbar is the same colour as the background which means when a user rollovers an item the item disappears into the background

everything should be centered in the page

I need to be harsh here but this doesn't look very professional at all, in fact it looks very amatuerish indeed

I think you need to look at some big name law firm web sites and get some design ideas cause they won't be happy with this...sorry :(

these aren't great but maybe you'll get some ideas from them...

I haven't submited it yet... and these were the ones they didn't like:

www.krisgosser.com/gruber/site3
www.krisgosser.com/gruber/site4
www.krisgosser.com/gruber/site5
www.krisgosser.com/gruber/site6
www.krisgosser.com/gruber/site7
www.krisgosser.com/gruber/site8
www.krisgosser.com/gruber/site9

And here's what messing with me:

- They say they want it professional looking, but haven't liked a single color/font selection yet.
- Want me to use my own pictures.
- Didn't give me more to put in the site to work with besides "About, Contact, Services, Staff, Testimonials"

I am agreeing with RabBell on this one. although Its really nice and simple, but needs some punch.hang on.. ok maybe this will give u some ideas ? ( not great design, but a few bold colours can sometimes lift a simple HTML site..)

I like site 3, perhaps with a better image though

what did they say in regards to the sites you've listed?

Sites 1 and 2 were just bad, I didn't even submit them to them.

Sites 3 through 5 were my first volly. They originally said, "We want professional." So I gave them that. But these three I guess weren't "flambouent" enough, and they wanted it brighter, more intense.

So sites 6-8 (including:

www.krisgosser.com/gruber/site8/index2.htm and www.krisgosser.com/gruber/site8/index3.htm)

were flambouent. I used bright colors, yet kept it professional. But their reply was, "We want modern."

So now I'm getting frustrated because after 11 drafts, I'm running out of ideas.

Umm... wait... are you confined to do this layout in a strict vertical like that? And also so plain? I have a few suggestions... but I'm still not feelin this at all. I assume it has to be a hybrid site... but there is so much more you could do graphically w/ this than what you're doin.

All of your elements just seem to be floating around on the page. No alignments, the spacing is all random. Come up with a grid layout. Move the menu down further from the top of the page. Work that picture into the design somehow, don't just throw it on the side like that.

Actually my personal favorite is still 7. I would work from there, perhaps with different colors.
