It is for a Bar, Grill, Night Club. It's called the "the BackBurner". Age group will range from 21-Early 40's. On club nights it will have various days for various music genre's. So it cannot single out any one type. You think it will fit that type of scene?

That's really nice. I think it fits that type of scene perfectly.
There's something about the "back" bit I don't like though. Not sure what it is.

thx....dude. I was trying to think what to do with "back" as it would fit cool without making it too long or detracting from the "burner" part with the stove element. I think on it some more.

I like it. I like how just the U is the the electric stove burner. It would be overpowering if it was anymore.. and wrapping it halfway around that third time on the right distinguishes it as a burner and not a florescent light.
I like the position of the 'back'. But if you want a suggestion on it, maybe you can counterbalance it with something on the right? I think it's fine as is though.
Nice bold font (is that the maxell font?) that fits well with the name.

I'm not fond of "back" either, if anything I think you should at least do capital letters.. it looks odd as is.

I think the U is really cool and I like the overall style but I just don't see this happening. I mean how good is it going to look as a sign?
I don't really have any ideas for you but I figured I'd throw at least one thought your way.

Alright lost this is gettin freaky. Thats what I was exactly thinking when I designed the "U", didnt want it to be a flourescent light. Not sure about the Maxwell font. Its EuropaGrotesk. Are you talking about Maxwell the singer?
Anyway thanks guys. I'll work on the "back" part. I want burner to be the main focus with the stove element. More comments would be great. Is there anyone that thinks it sux?

Dam* that sucks! :td:
No, I'm just kidding... I like it. The only thing is that "back" doesn't really stand out to me. Maybe you could change the color on it to make it more noticeable but not too noticeable cause I understand that the "U" is the focal point.
Good job though. ;)

Nathan,
Try messing around with
A) Changing the "back" to BACK, with caps.
B) Rotate "back" 180 degrees.
Only two things that I can think of to change up the appeal of the "back" other than doing something very unorthodox with it.

I like the U but I don't like the font. I guess what I don't like about the font is I think the thinner lines are killin it. And the way that BACK is placed while you prolly don't have to many other options on it... I don't think it's represented well.

yea Sim, I had reservations about the font. They requested a sans serif font with thin and thick lines. They showed me a box of "Virginia Slims" cigarettes and a font that was on there that they liked. But after doing it I think it pop's the "u" away from the rest. I will see if they say they want a slab san serif. Which I would prefer too.
Yea and with the "back" part. I did not want it to have the same billing with "burner". Yet I did not want it on top because that is kinda cliche....hmmm dunno.
Thx...

I disagree with you a little, sim. I think the font selection draws attention to the U, but doesn't make it illegible.

that's because the font is ugly and no one wants to look at it  :bad: those silly little half arsed serifs just look funky.

Those sans serifs are indicative of a certain era...mainly the 20's-30's. Gotta know when to use them and when not to. (the youth of America today...sheesh :beam: ) I understand why they wanted the look for their logo. But I too am skeptical on these retro style fonts. But they do serve purpose.

Yea my bad man... I guess I'm just spoiled to the 80s+... you know... the era where slabs were used to make buildings instead of engraving on  :trout: :hurt:
Oh yea... I want to go to a club to see old ppl dance... that'd be some funny stuff. A nice good break from the hip hop clubs I go to :D

Nice work man....but i got a nice little suggestion if you consider me :D. It would be insane if you put like a flame ( like you see on badass cars & stuff) and make a hole in it and carve the U out of it :) , its hard to explain ... :-/
Good work though ! :)

i dont get it :q:
Also remember the logo has to have a general coolness. Not drifting over to the youngster side, also not drifting to the old people. And be non-music genre specific. That was the hardest thing about this logo. Was making it cool but not pointing out nothing. General Coolness I guess is the best phrase.

Just off this description I could see this being a very bad idea. Just IMO. It would make it way to gaudy, and wouldn't represent the pimpness they want. Did they have pimps in the 20s? Or was it just whoever could club the most girls first?

i'd lilke to see the flamming U flip around and work as an A in BACK. Just to see what it looks like.
