Hi,

My name is Stefan and I won the SOTW November 20th - November 27th.

Unfortunately Kirupa is currently busy so I was wondering if any of you guys could help me out with some critics to improve the look of my website.

Thank you in advance.

Well the first thing that comes in my mind is that It looks a bit "squary". I dont like websites with boxes and all load different movies in them. It looks like very common design and layout.

Also, here are positive and negative points :

Negative:

1) Could have used a better font (pixel fonts).
2) The Outro animation is choppy (i am running your site on 3.06 Ghz P4 with 512 Ram). Could have more creative intro transitions and outro transitions (rather than just fading out).
3) The buttons are not extraordinary. They are static and are not attractive.
4) why portfolio sections is very empty ?! (unless you click on the icons)
5) on the contact us section, the check box arrow on "sign up newsletter" is a little big and is not matching with your theme.

Positive points:

1) Excellent job with Graphics. You're really good with graphics !!!!!! The one on the main page with arrows is awesome...:) . Also nice color choice.
2) Consistent throughout the site. The theme is maintained and thats the beauty of it. The backgroud texture is really professional.

Suggestions: Could have done a little better job with some actionscripting

Overall Rating of the site : (4/10)

you won SOTW, and you are still trying to improve your site?? wow, hats off to you!!

Your site is already awesome, but here are a few things that could use improvement..

1 - the music is fine, but maybe put a few more loops on there for variety's sake..

2 - those 3d cubes that spin at the top - have them do something.. i kept trying to interact with them, but it seemed like they don't do much..

3 - the Digital Wallpapers section on your Home page doesn't seem up to par with the rest of the site... the rollOver effect with the red stroke and white text is very simple when compared to how smooth the rest of the site is.. also, i was kind of bothered by the amount of color that is visible in those buttons.. maybe if they started off in a grayscale, and onMouseOver they faded into full color, it would make for a nicer effect..

Just some thoughts. no harm intended...

hmm ... 4/10? tough, tough crowd.

this site is awesome, in my opinion. you have a lot of ability with graphics. that graphic in the about us section is triple sweet. i think the buttons fit your site well. although i was expecting this site to be a little more '3d'ish than it was, it still surpasses anything i could do at this point in time. i cannot comment on the music because i just turned on the computer and the speakers aren't on. i think you did a good job on the site. the only thing i see that you could improve on the site is making it more interactive. the plus sign following the loader at the beginning is nice also.

you need an exit button once in full screen, and also I would delete the first ''enter'' on the splash :) very nice!

Thanks to everyone who replyed to this post. Yes I agree it should be more 3d, because of the name "3d-sign", and yes I do need a X button. I am currently still learning this webdevelopment thing. I am just 16 ( and growing), and I've been doing this for only one year, but I am getting better every day.
If you guys have any other suggestions I would be happy to read them.
Thanks again!

P.S. Oh yeah, and I dont know bout em pixel fonts. They are not professional enough and it kinda looks bad when you have lots of text.

Why do you have an "Enter Normal Window" option, if it's just going to make a popup anyhow?

Nice looking site, portfolio is very clean.

One thing that REALLY jumped out at me as VERY ANNOYING... ;)

In the about section you have 45 degree lines behind the text... that is really terrible to read... I'd either lower the opacity, or take them out completely and use them elsewhere. The borders between the text areas are nice and clean, then in the text you have those lines competing with the font - why not swap those?

Other than that I'd agree with the addition of a few more 'creative' animations, and what I think would be the biggest improvement (to this already nice site ;)) would be the addition of better intro's and outro's for each section.

That said..... GREAT JOB!

Peace
