Hey guys this is a simple and clean desktop I made while trying out my new digital camera. I know it's trendy but I wanted the look so critique if you want. :-)

Its pretty nice, I like the colors, nice and solid. Although the scanlines make the text a bit .... ehhh. Maybe put the text over the scanlines so its easier on the eyes?

I'll do that in a little bit after I finish playing counter-strike. I'll let you know. Thanks for the advice.

I like the colors and the general concept, but I think you went a bit over-kill on the horizontal lines. Sometimes less is more.
JMHO.

I like both 2 and 3... but I think you should add something to your mug shot. Your image has typo on it that is making a statement, instead you should (IMO) remove the text from the spotlight and let you manip of your face do the talking (how you want to acheive that is up to you)..... keep the text on the image, but keep it subtle, let the image talk (showing you as someone l33t) and reiterate it with your typo in an understated fashion. Thats what I think. I'm looking forward to seeing the final product.

#2. And take the left half of your face and streak it accross and out of the picture. Know what I am saying?

I like #2 and #3, but I think I like #3 more.
And Morse: You mean pixel stretching? Eh... I don't really recommend that in this situation, but maybe I am just visualising it wrong.

#2 , nice colour scheme works, and you can incoporate the scan lines from #1 . use a mask to fade it off!, will give a nice visual effect. :smirk:

#3...but do a short pixel strech, i will do it to show you if you want. then that would be awsome.

great use of a streach there!

I cant say that I agree with the suggestion of using a pixel stretch... too often it is used for lack of a good design. JMHO

PS personally I dont like the billy bussey stretch... I think the image rocks except for the stretch.

I think it would be more condeptual if you showed only half of your face and also lighten up the drop shadow on "Explore Design", it's too heavy and dark.

OK guys tahnk you all for your help! I ended up going with #3 because I thought #2 might have a little too much blue. I took what you guys saids into consideration, and made a couple minor changes, mainly toning down the glow on the type. I didn't want to go with a pixel stretch on this one because I don't really like BB's front page, and agree with Ryall about pixel stretching. Not that I don't like it, I just didn't want to use it here. The final image is at:

Thanks guys!
