Yet again webfeatsdesign is simply outstanding. I feel obliged to post this in the Kool Sites section because it deserves to be recognized as one helluva good site !

Excellent music; you HAVE to turn your music level up otherwise you'll miss such a good music ! The intro was simple yet astoundingly captivating...

I bow to the designer ! My personal favorite of the month ! Definitely worth the SOTW award =)

I will leave it this time....It did win SOTW, but I still dont think it is a kool site. As far as graphics and navigation it is really amatuer (but the motion is great)....But hey who am I...lol.

I dont know how this won honestly...

1. Option "whiz bang" or "minimal" Chose whiz bang.

2. Long Load (resulting useless animation but the animation is good)

3. Choose broad band or dial up. Chose broadband.

4. View intro or not. (didnt I already see an intro). Ok lets see intro.

5. Long Load, resulting in a epileptic intro. But the animation is good. No skip button at this point and the intro is looooong.

6. Then a little more animation.

7. then a site whose graphics dont back up what I just saw.

So all in all depending on what adventure you choose you can end up waiting 2-3 minutes on a fast connection to see what you want. I think from a planning standpoint this site was a nightmare. And graphically leaves a bad taste in your mouth. I just wanted to voice my opinion so people dont think I personally dont like the creator. I think on one of the better SOTW days this would not have came close to winning. But hey you won man. And like I said your motion is great.

Yea sometimes the truth cannot be sugar coated. But I got complaints soI just wanted to clear the air. I had to ammend the rules with a sticky because your friends kept trying to push this site into kool sites. But alas it is here and I will leave it. But it needs alot of work. And should not have won. When you look at the past winners.

Some thoughts...

I wonder if some of you who have your jaws on the floor are seeing the site I'm seeing, because my jaw is no where near the floor. Its not that amazing, the motion is amazing, yes, but every other aspect of the site is lacking. You see a professional site like 2advanced.com and its well put together, well-thought out and everything is amazing, not just one aspect of it. Graphically its nothing special, basically, the price of admission (huge load times and around 3 button presses to get in) didn't cover the cost for me. It took way too long to load for what the site delivered, which was a decent site. Don't get me wrong, the site is solid and the motion is great, but otherwise its just that -- decent. Sorry if I sound harsh, but I really honestly don't think this site is worth all the praise its getting, you still have much to improve on.

Stick Man on Fire is twice the site this one is, I have no idea how Stick Man of Fire didn't win. Its Site of the Week, not Intro of the Week.

I like it! but it seems slow on slower systems, perhaps du to the high frame rate, what it is anyways, 50?

I respect your opinion, but I honestly think WebFeats is quite an accomplishment visually, if a little bit of an overaccomplisment, and that it's far better than some of the other SOTWs that we've had. So what exactly are you you looking for in a SOTW that WebFeats failed to accomplish?

Are a few things that come to mind. I mean the design and planning and development are just horrible (3 decisions 3 loads and 3 minutes to get into the site). Aside from the motion nothing else hits. And I hate to say it but it was not better than the stickman site (IMO). In no way. I would like to see this site submitted for a bombshock. Well no system is completely flawless and our SOTW is no exception.

The music in particular impresses me (being a music making person myself ;)).
Make sure you have a listen to the other soundtracks available! (particularly 'Maniacal Symphony FULL').

Simply amazing site, and even if the graphics aren't completely up to scratch,
as others are saying, the sound just blinds your senses and drowns out any
imperfections. Boy, I'd love to see the look on one of their newbish clients' face when
they see that site :P

Polkiousness' site is simply a very good site, just like Stickman and most of SOTW winners. I can imagine it's not always easy to make a choice, and sometimes I curl my eyebrows too, but hey...

DDD, 5 of the 6 sites you presented that really deserved the SOTW award in your opinion, weren't my favourites at all. Only Loriannmusic impressed me a lot, while the other 5 were just good to very good :whistle:

I really liked both Stickman on Fire and WebFeatsdesign, and since I voted early, I got to vote twice!! Ok - I'll stop haha.

I voted for Stickman on Fire, but WebFeats was a really really close second. This week's SOTW vote was far closer than any I've seen in quite some time, for both Stickman and Webfeats were some of the best sites I've seen recently.

Besides, it's not as if SOTW visitors won't be getting to see a great Flash site!

Its odd reading such mixed reactions to this site. There are two very extreme views. Personally, i love it. It is very stylised, and is very distinct, whether you take that to be a good thing or a bad thing. I think that's what it boils down to, either you like the overall theme of the design or not and the structure/music etc are secondary. I am also guilty of making sites that are fairly in your face that people either love or hate. The difference is, the vast majority of people love this site. This won site of the week simply because more people liked the theme than those who didnt and therefore deserves it in my opinion. I must agree that all those clicks to get into the site are a little excessive, but for me it was worth it. i was entertained all the way so it still gets my vote.

Your site does not have to be full Flash to be eligible. Whilst you still must employ Flash to some extent, we are also looking for the overall design and usability of your site, not just your Flash skills.

Yes, tweening. I think it will come back into style come Flash 8. Flash 6 and 7 have really only added features for coders, but I hear 8 will actually add some features for the designers 'n animators. Can't wait. Maybe they'll put friggin' rollout frames on buttons so I don't have to constantly fake it with movieclips :P

HOLY GOOD MOTHER OF... My friend you have the patience of Job. I can't do AS to save my life but I couldn't be bothered with a 3000 frame timeline. Imagine everything was just one frame to close to the thing before it! Gaah!

I like your site but I agree with simplistik about the graphics not being strong enough to compliment the motion. Also do you re-use stuff alot? I noticed that the buttons and stuff on your client sites are mostly very similar to the ones on your site.

I don't understand why you can't just let it rest, rather than criticizing everyone who comes on and says something nice about it. There are plenty of sites I don't particularly love, but I don't go into their "Kool Sites" threads and make rebuttals at everyone who feels differently from me.

Its a discussion forum, if he feels the site doesn't deserve to be here, he can say so as much as he wants and post rebuttles to everyone who thinks otherwise, as long as they aren't completely negative or detrimental.

Usually "Kool Sites" creators aren't here, this case is different, but that doesn't mean the way of doing things should be changed because you don't like it. If you think your site is good, thats all that matters. You're not going to change his mind.

You're right. But he's ceaseless; read the whole thread. The horse died long ago. It's upsetting that this thread is like the 4th Google result for "webfeats design." :(
