Hey all - just got home from the apple store opening on regent street in london. Slept on the streets over night with loads of like minded people and finally got in at 10.45. Earlier in the night a queue push caused confusion and this pushed us away from the 300 lucky enough to get a lucky bag - ****. Still, was worth it!

:mario: a very tired mariofan!

Is there a name for this other than finaticism? I see this a lot at the Virgin Megastore where I live... Lines of people camping overnight to get a chance to say Hi to a star and have a CD signed...

Those "stars" are just like you and me. The need to eat and sleep and take poo's. I've never understood the over idolization. And for me it seems even weirder to bestow that finaticism on something inanimate, like a store... Were they giving away free Computers? Becase then I could understand it, but jsut to look at something...? Not a blind man's chance of seeing in the dark would I go.

why not? I mean you like there products. you want to show them that you do.

I think it's mostly a sence of belonging.

Take Steve Jobs out to dinner, tell him you think his vision and ideas are amazing... waiting 7 hours so the $8 hour emplyee can show you the new toys, isn't really saying much.

Be a fan, respect something or someone, just don't define yourself by someone or something else though... that's all I'm saying.

surely you would go the next day or something?
Fair enough there products are good but would it be worth waiting maybe 10 hours of standing around just to see some products?

....... Were they giving away free Computers? Becase then I could understand it, but jsut to look at something...? Not a blind man's chance of seeing in the dark would I go...... " Goody bags priced at £250 with contents with a minimum value of £700 "

... convert to $US and you have >$1000.0++ to vie for by standing in line - some may think that's worth the while :shrugs:.....

I don't think a lot really gives it justice. That stiarcase costs 1 million dollars. We have the same one in our LA store here.

I have been talking to Stormy Shippy, the guy who waited 48 hours in line to be first in the store. He is a very cool guy to say the leat :D

I would have loved to go to the store, but alas i am 3000 miles away :(

MF how was it? I have been trying to get an interview with Jobs but have no clue how to contact him :/
