I'll tell you right now... that it lies. They always base those off of fortune 500 companies.

good point. however when i first did it, my specifications were this:
2-9 employees (how many employees works for the firm i intern for)
web development / advertising and marketing (which is what i do)
Chicago area (i live in milwaukee, close enough)
and my results were: note enough data gathered to accurately display figures. retry.
...so ...simplisitk has a point: not many 2-9 employee firms were surveyed, im assuming.

also take in note the privilages which smaller company's give like : phone bills, taxi covers.
your looking at prob around clearing $800 AUS a week after tax. so about 45 - 48 thousand (depending on skill level and years at company)would be prob the more correct wage for a 2-9 size company.
first year pay at a company like this is around 42-43 g (if your lucky)

I am not totally sure this is reliable if based on surveys. There has to be a vicious curve to this. While this tool is still valuable I found discrepancies between it and www.salary.com which is basically the standard since it is based on actually numbers and not reported numbers.
