I would like to experiment with texturizing people so they look like a statue or made of stone
I've seen some examples somewhere once but i can't seem to find any tuorials on this technique
I can't to get any close results by just doing the usual texturizing (blending modes and such) There is always something missing: it looks cheap and flat...
Does anyone have any tips? I'd love to get the hang of this one thing :)
thanks!

Interesting subject... a good place to start would probably be to desaturate the pic and bring up the color so it's close to the stone's color. Adding texture is probably going to take some effort because the body and face have are filled with shapes.

you are going to need displacement maps as well as blends. I did this once but cant find the pic nor give directions because it was something I just did. But you will meed a good concrete texture. Then displace it over the face....Look up those 2 terms should get you almost to where you need to be.

This will give you a pretty decent stone texture don't put the lighting as I high, then manipulate it a bit. You'll have to manually ad highlights and shadows, this isn't really something that can just be done by a tutorial.
