kirupa
November 8th, 2004, 10:12 PM
If you wish to be considered for this week, please read the summary of rules:
1) Reply by the end of November 15th to be considered for this week's award.
2) Include the URL and your email address.
Only the webmaster/creator of the site can submit.
Only one submission per person per week.
Submissions are capped at 10 each week, so don't wait or hesitate until the last minute. Entries beyond the 10 entry limit will not be eligible for the SOTW for that particular week.
Include a brief synopsis of your site inluding its purpose, or maybe some features you wouldn't want anyone to miss.
3) Your site does not have to be full Flash to be eligible. Whilst you still must employ Flash to some extent, we are also looking for the overall design and usability of your site, not just your Flash skills.
4) While it is understood that sites are perpetually under construction, please submit only complete sites. Do not submit a site that is less than 80% finished.
5) Submissions must be actual websites with sections and content. Examples of ineligible include (but not limited to) flash games, movies, etc.
6) There will be a private poll among the moderators and a winner will be announced.
7) No critiques or feedback is allowed in the submission thread. If you wish a concentrated critique of your site, you may start a thread in Site Check. However, mod critiques will be posted when a winner has been selected.
For more information or questions, please refer to the Official SOTW Rules. Once you have read and understand the rules above, you may submit your site to this thread. Sites not adhering to the rules above will be disqualified and deleted. Submitting your site is an agreement and acceptance of the rules.

SOTW will be a little delayed everyone. With the server move, gobbles of real-life work, and a generally busy time of the year for the mods and I, it may be a few more days before results and critiques trickle in :)
I'm sure that in a few weeks SOTW will be back on its weekly schedule!

Congratulations to polkiousness for winning this week's SOTW! You will be featured on the main page of kirupa.com for this week. You may also post a graphical award from this page: http://www.kirupa.com/gallery/awards.htm
Good job to all the participants. One of the valuable aspects of SOTW is to get valuable feedback about your site and get an idea of how well it stands beside some of the best on the web. Mod critiques will be posted shortly.
Critiques will be posted tomorrow!

Wow - great site. Everything from the sound to the animation sequences fit together really nicely.
buronorth
I really liked this site. The black background contrasted nicely with the bright blue and gray text. Overall, this is another great site. The text color for your slogan changing when you click a certain link is great.
kranekick
The match effect is great! This is one of the best sites I have seen in quite some time. As the results show, it was a close one :)
mrm
The colors of the squares don't seem to fit well with each other. The grafisch section is really nice, but the text is a little difficult to read in the film section. Light blue background with white text does not seem to be working well. You may also want to work on your font use. A more stylish font may work better than, what looks like, Verdana.
ssd
Looks really nice! The navigation looks complicated but is actually quite easy to figure out. Overall this is a great site. You may want to work on the big blocks of dark gray, gray, and white backgrounds. Try to find a way to unify the backgrounds a bit. Also, your site opened in a full-screen pop-up! It would be better for you to provide a non-popup/full-screen version.
series
The splash page looks perfect....except for the Flash Player and Adobe Reader buttons. Those buttons detract greatly from your splash page. You may want to create your own buttons informing visitors to download the Flash and Reader plug-ins. The rest of the site was fairly good. You should work on better utilizing space, for the main section was just a huge image of a field/mountains with four small numbers. You may want to look into some pixel fonts. Also, I really like your black background with light-colored text more than I did the background with the image of the field.
berghs
The cube on your splash page had pixelated edges that looked a bit rushed. Besides that, your site is really good. The layout and content fit together really nicely.
spastichild
Brilliant site. The layout and content is simple yet engaging. The images on the left are really good. Nice work =)
harpox
Hmm - a pop-up site that got caught by my spam blocker! You should provide a non-pop up version just in case somebody does not know to temporarily allow pop-ups such as your main content from loading. Besides that, this is a great site. You should change the font in the top-right where it says "design by anomalia", for I could not make out what the text said.
andarts
Pretty good site. You may want to work on getting the content, your logo, the images on the right, and the colors to better fit together with the site. The book flipping when you moved to new content is really good though!
Cheers!
