Actionscript2 - .com?????

Hey Everyone!

I am the lucky owner of actionscript2.com. My plans are to turn it into a forum that will house all actionscript 2 and only actionscript2 questions and I was curious if anyone knows how to get a hold of Kirupa to see if he would be willing to share a database for the forum?

Also, just to get general ideas and suggestions...
Do you think it is a good idea to have a solely actionscript2 forum?

The ideal situation I think, would be, since Kirupa.com is missing a focused AS 2.0 forum, that actionscript2.com would be simply that! Not for competition at all, maybe just to share the server load that Kirupa.com has... or whatever...
I think it might be a cool idea though... either way... suggestions always welcome.

(Buy the way, www.actionscript2.com (http://www.actionscript2.com) has no site right now. I guess this prooves that I'm not just trying to get hits to my site...)

Hrmm, I don't think it's a good idea to start an AS2 focused forum.

Again, why do you want to start a new forum when the net has already great AS and Flash related forums? and they are quite alot, too!

It is your choice after all, but I don't think Kirupa is willing to give a copy of his DB, so that means a fresh start for you.

I don't think that's a good idea either.

First off, there are many other resources out there which are much more visited and have 20.000+ members compared to a new forum with maybe 20 members. You'd need a high traffic rate to your site before attempting to start a forum, otherwise it'll fail miserably like so many little kids who want to set up a forum for all their friends and whatnot, which then is not used at all anyway.

And secondly, I don't think Kirupa's gonna be willing to share his precious DB ...

The whole DB share was just a fanciful, idealogical, situation...
Well, the reason why it would be good to start up another AS2 forum, is because now, you have to weed through other posts that you find out later were AS1, or are looking for people specifically who specialize in AS2. Now, don't get me wrong, I love Kirupa, but actionscript.org is the only place (That I have found) with an active AS2 forum for AS2 specific questions...

It would be best to use it as a resource and tutorial site for as2 first, then if you find you are getting enough traffic you can start a forum. I don't think it would attract enough people if you started it purely as a forum.

Yeah dude start out slow, it's really hard to just start a forum.
Congrats on nabbing that domain, the good news is your site bombs out and such, macromedia might some day want the domain and you can sell it to them for 8.7 trillion currency of choices

Maybe in a couple of months, I will put somthing up and try to get AS2 specific stuff going... like tutorials and stuff.
