Hollywood Burning: critique for HxC band

Hey I just got done making this site for my friends in Oklahoma. Check it out and let me know what you think, and if you have any problems with it with your resolution and/or your browser.

i like it but i dont like one thing though..the font used for the text i think u should use another font and another color and thats all :D

hmmm. maybe. that's actually the only part of the site that I did not make... that text. So maybe I will, maybe not... it all depends on what everyone else thinks.

That font has to go, defenitely. Replace it with a slightly smaller font and one that fits in with the site more. Other than that, good stuff.

I'd like to create a firey text but all the tutes involve black backgrounds. :(

warning could cause epilleptic seizures...lol. The site is ok.....But I cannot focus on it long enough due to the flashing and movement. It may work well with the nature of their music but it causes me to press the little x. But from what I saw it looks like you have some fonts that dont belong. good work artistically.

lol I think the epilleptic flash is totally appropriate for the site. It looks good but I too would like to see some different fonts . Maybe more gothic and death like type.

Overall very cool.

Hey guys thanks for all the replies... I took some of your suggestions into action and changed the top title, and now the main text is brown.... easier to read. Please let me know what's ya think. More of a gothic font? I don't have many but I shall think yes that is a good idea.

Overall very kool I like it, a few things though that might make it have that extra professional edge:

The Title of the page "hollywood burning" isnt clear enough - either use some white , give it a drop shadow , change the font , add some blood red something to lift it

Add a nice crisp gothic font for the nav, and leave some spacing between the nav and the title ( they are separate elements with separate functions, make this clear)

I dig the bottom flashing video element, but perhaps if you faded black in and out slowly over the animation, it would give a kool effect without drawing your attention away from the main content the whole time (same effect used in thriller/ horror movies)

Main content page - U need to lift the text a bit, maybe a slighly larger font size, and change the colour from brown to something with more contrast. All the headers (grey squares with brown text) dont quite fit, perhaps create a scratchy black header BG with a nice gothic font. Also maybe flesh out the content if you can by adding some images to the text only pages / creating little animations here and there ..

Otherwise kool layout, nice black trimming and overlays and format. Hope this helps.

i do like it - but here comes the personal opinion advice :)

it looks ok - the bottom flashing part kind of clashes with the top - the coloring on the pictures is too "nice" compared to the grunge - grunge up the pictures a tad bit more and color them in more of blue and contrasted colors...looking at more of them - just more contrast

the band name is loss amidst the swirls - make it pop!

I would also look into customizing the scrollbars and submit buttons and such to match the style of the website.

the menu system needs work as well - the squared up buttons don't match the grunge aspect well at all - it's like this nice sleek evening lounge design mixed with this grunged up rock design - make it flow

ok I have changed the top part like 283 times now... and I think I'm gonna keep it the way it is for now (The top title text, and navigation). lol maybe I'll make more changes to it later (the sleek evening lounge design/grunged up rock design).I was going for more of an industrial type thing... with the metal background on the content area.... and yeah. that's prolly why it came out the way it did. I'm not good with keeping styles persistant. I mix them up a lot. :-(
the flash animation at the bottom... oh man I'm so tired of making changes to that. too time consuming. I'm not a flash developer at all... so I only know animation stuff... and I just... blah.

argh, that bottom flash bit scares me. :D

the text in the main box is too hard to read, the header for each content page could be more detailed (boxes).

overall, it's quite nice. :)

why does it scare you? is it the music?
Yes I understand the text problem... it was hard finding a color that looks alright. :-( if anyone really wants to see a better color, feel free to test colors out for me and suggest a specific color change. Thanks.

Yes the detail for the main heading things could be more detailed... but I did it with css because I thought I was cool. I guess I could change it. ha ha ha!
