Guinea Pig food or a Pet

Hey,

I read a story on MSNBC.com where they are trying to introduce the Guinea Pig as a meal here in the states. I don't know about you but I find it pretty offensive. That's because for the past 4 years my 11 year old has had one for a family pet. At first I even joked about cooking it up but after holding one, hearing it purr, and realizing it really needs and cares for its owners companionship almost as much as a dog does I couldn't eat one, even if it was life and death.

So let's hear from the people that love eating them. I'm truly interested in hearing why you like it and if you too like to serve it up with the head still on the plate staring up at you like they do in Peru, where they eat 65 million of them a year.

Never had one, but I did see one in the frozen food section of an ethnic food store in Brooklyn once. Still had the feet on.

It was kinda creepy.

People eat all kinds of weird animals/insects throughout the world. Though, I wouldn't be surprised if guinea pig parts find their way into sausages and hot dogs without us knowing :P

Some of the American Solders in Iraq have started eatin dogs by what i heard. and i whoudln't doubt them iether especially since they get those powdered nasty tasting food to eat every day.

I suppose meat is meat. Personaly I would prefer not too, but some people might. Peope eat dogs, cats and horses, I suppose they would eat a guinea pig too.
