If you have another computer, plug your current keyboard there and see if your keyboard works. That's one way of figuring out if the problem is due to a keyboard error or a Windows error :)

well i dont have another keyboard to use right now..any idea how i could figure out the problem? (ie where should i look and what should i look out for)
also, like i mentioned in the beginning, the volume control from my keyboard still works, so the keyboard seems properly connected and functioning well.

im using my dad's notebook to type this...should've done that in the first place instead of using my wacom while lying down (was lazy after getting irritated by lack-of-keyboard)

oh yay, got it to work. I opened up Device Manager and noticed that windows was having trouble starting USB Generic K/B or something like that. tried updating the driver but that didn't work. So i unistalled the device and rebooted my computer...

thanks kirupa for the idea - although you didnt really to do this, but for some reason "Windows error" gave me the idea ;)
