what's macromedia going to do? it's not really got anything to do with them, there's is just a platform for the games to be made on

maybe they can make the swf more secure?!?! there's only so much they can do though, files are always going to get hacked, even java and stuff can be, just swf seems to be easier... i guess they could do more

the swf format is deliberately open source - this allows third parties to develop compementary s/w (e.g. Swift), so you will always have that problem.
Anyway, even if it wasn't there will always be a some one and some way of hacking a file ... where there is a will there is a way! Sad but true.

If you wanna make an swf secure, to people don't steal your flkash works, just do a simple script:
//example, flash is at www.227Movies.com:
game_url = _level0._url
dryurl = substring(game_url, 1, 24)
if(dryurl != "http://www.227movies.com"){
gotoAndPlay("thief", 1)
}
// put stop() at thief scene somewhere, and don't forget to use Stage.showMenu = false at foirst frame of the loading scene.
that aways works for me, and people can't use compilers to make a .fla with the swf, it aways screw up, maybe it's because they can't get MX2004 swf files well.

all you really need is an obfuscator, it changes your actionscript into gibberish so no one can read it and the best part is if they copy and paste the gibberish into their own flash movie they'll get errors. . .
go on google and type flash obfuscator, your bound to find one.

or you could just turn you code into classes, and make your game into a component. When doing so in MX2004Pro, Ive yet to have any issues of reverse engineering. Ive tried a couple different disassemblers, and they have yet to successfully decompile everything. Also think about MD5 encryption. Just some thoughts.
But the fact of the matter is, nothing is completely hacker safe. Nothing.
