More and more people are shifting from 56k dial-up to high-speed broadband. I wanna know and compare the speed and price of broadband service around the globe.

So, here's mine:
Malaysia(ISP:TMNET): 512kbps for RM66(US$17.37) per month & 1Mbps for RM88(US$23.16 per month

Australia is currently in the Broadband Internet expansion services but the prices are very high and its why many residents still use 56k like me. Iprimus Internet offers $20.00/month BB for only 200mb and Telstra for $30.00 for 200mb as well which is not good. Optus (Singtel owned of course) has a ranging ADSL broaband connection for 15gb a month for $80-$100 AUD. For US, the rate of these prices would be half.

Here in the US we get our broadband (3.0mbps cable) for $19.99 a month. I don't think we have a bandwidth limit though... If we do we certainly haven't run into it yet.

I think the price is normall $30 or something but since we get our TV from the same company... price is reduced.

here here zacus

Telstra disconnected my home phone (no explanation except service difficulties) then without my consent, redirected my home phone to my mobile. They then tried to tell me that they can't do that and that I must have done it, (I was about 200 km's away from home at the time) and that I would have to pay the redirection costs

Major *******s

I'll gladly put the boot in.

hey zacus i can see that you voted for johny howard (if u can vote) cos now he has power in both the lower house and from july on in the senate as well tellestra will be sold off and will go down town for sure, unless it is mannaged as well as QANTAS is but that is unlikly cos of the higher levels of competition. privatisation of government owned vital public serivices such as telestra sucks, because that would lead to a lack in regulation forcing prices / service quality through the roof.

i am also anoyed at the ridiclus cost of broad band prices / availability in australia.

Yes! Go the heavily overpriced Australian broadband!!! I'm paying AU$55.00 (~US$40) for 512/128k ADSL with 28gb downloads :( Currently with ArachNet (where the service is quite good, actually), but I'm hoping to switch to Telstra cable as soon as my contract finishes in Sept 2005 :P Telstra cable supposedly has a top speed of 6mbps and unlimited downloads (10gb soft limit)... I wanna try it out.

although i live in a backwater ,yes, I have an internet connection and no, it is not 56kbit but 768kbit and 4GB download transfer limit (no upload limit)
the prices are around 30€ a month.

In Austria more and more people are getting a broadband connection because it is available in nearly every backwater!! I have been useing broadband for nearly four years and the speed has just been raised from 512 to 768.
It is not the cheapest one but I am satisfied.

Speed: 512/256 Kbit/s
Same Price: € 22,95 per month

Speed: 1120/352 Kbit/s
Same Price: € 34,95 per month

Speed: 416/160 Kbit/s
Same Price € 26,95 per month.

Speed: 2240/416 Kbit/s
Same Price: € 52,25 per month

Speed: 4480/704 Kbit/s
Same Price: € 88,15 per month
No transfer limite.

You can see pritty much the same over whole Nederland. only they compete by giving you let's say per exsample the 4480/704 Kbit/s package the first 5 months for 49.50 euro's per month.

There are allot of others around there the give much better packages.. But just to give you a general idea what It costs..

Far out. If I was living in the US, I would have had Broadband the first time I had the Internet. Try telling Australian companies giving us fellows down here 3.0mbps for $20 a month.

That's something like the prices here in the UK :)

My dad can get various discounts on the 2Mb due to him working for Oracle, so that's what we get.
