Hello.
Im sorry if Im breaking any rules of this forum but i have one question to ask.
Recently I finished tutorials on flash/actionscript tile based game programming from OOS(outside of society).I learned a lot from them but on OOS site I seen one interesting example of first person tile based rpg(something like Eye of Beholder or Bards Tale).I tried and tried to figure out how this can be done with tiles and actionscript but i just cant understand how to do it.So I would like to ask if anyone ho know how to make something like this to please explain it to me.Im not asking you for any finished code or something like that.Only if someone could explain me principles and point me in right directions.Again Im very sorry if I annoy someone with this but I really want to learn how to do this.Sorry for bad english too.
P.S What do you think of Flash Pirates!.I think that this kind of game wouldnt be hard to make.Is anybody tried to make something like this?
Thanks in advance.

where can i find this flash pirates?
also its very hard to even give tips for making an rpg with tiles, because it's hard. i would suggest using tonypa's tile tutes because they at least give u scrolling aspect and changing rooms, picking up items, etc.

Another thing to do would be to email OOS moxiecode or whatever his name is and beg for the source or tips, or be a member of flashkit.com and post in the ir game forum cos i think he posts there, and if u make a thread like [PROBLEM] using OOS tutes for RPG maybe u'll get his attention

Thanks for answering.
Anyway I dont think that moxie would answer, because I really dont need source file just explanation.I sure would like to see tutorial on that subject(first person tile based RPG-ala Dungeon Master).I think that tile based RPG are not so hard...but maybe Im wrong.About Pirates!...They dont exist in Flash...yet...what I meant is that it wouldnt be SO hard to make them...at lest not for some advanced actionscripter. When I see so much exelent tutorials and examples on subject of RPG I wonder why those people ho writed them newer bothered to make something like Pirates! in Flash because they sure seem to me like exelent actionscripters.Reason because I asked this question here is that that I hoped someone would answer with explanation...tutorials on this site are great and it seeemed to me that someone of that great writers is bound to know something on this subject.
Anyway thanks for answer.

good to see ur getting responses on flashkit! What platform is pirates for, and do u have a website i could at least see screenshots, and also what even type of rpg is it?
I started making a RPG in flash using tutes from tonypa, but i couldn't get my head around it, using his engine is like learning a new language! i'll have a crack at it again when i have some spare time, but i have school and a few flash projects that i want to finish (logic based game 'line to line' with AI, tile based mario, fighting game) then i'll post the source on here for it so u can see what to do
