Hey everyone,
I just wanted to tell everyone that a new section on the site has been created for showcasing some cool Flash experiments: http://www.kirupa.com/lab/index.htm

It is just a place where I and anyone else interested can post something unique they've done for others to see (-:

Cheers!

Hey kax,
Pretty much yes - except the mods and I will be scrutinizing each entry to make sure they are high quality =)

Cheers!

Sweet kirupa! :bounce:

How about a small section where you can post your comments on each one? Just a thought...

Hey Soul,
Interesting idea. I have no clue as to how I would set that up, but I might give that idea a shot.

Cheers!

Kirupa, I noticed that your site uses ASP, I have a decent knowledge in ASP and MS ACCESS database management, I would be glad to be of assistance!

My site uses ASP, check it out! (http://www.uachq.cjb.net)

Thanks for the offer flatline - I'll give it a shot. I recently decided to move away from ASP and opted for PHP on my servers (hence almost all the pages are now .htm now). For some reason, I couldn't get my Atomz search and the ASP pages to work so I decided to use plain HTML instead.

Cheers!

I still have the electricity thing somewhere.. (maybe :x)

Great section Kirupa! I checked it out just before I got here. Regarding a comments section for this, MHO is that it is not needed and would be over-kill. You already have the forums for people to ask questions in case they get stuck. I dont think any comments are needed on the new lab selections - like you said, you'd go over them with a fine toothed comb, making the only probable "comment": wow that rocks. I say let kirupaforum do its job, as it has done so well for a while now. The last thing we need is another place for people to post questions regarding tuts. JMHO.

Well getting back to the lab section.... I have something that I am sure people would like to see up there, it is a prototype that creates an elastic rollover effect... I got a lot of questions about it.... anyway, I am changing my file structure within my servers right now so I cant post the file. So K-Dog would you like me to email it to you for looking over?? Just PM or email me and let me know.

Peace

Hey eilsoe!
Sure :) That'll make a neat addition. Ryall, sure, you can e-mail them to me at kirupa@kirupa.com. I'll put it up in the mod section for others to take a peek at it as well. Remember, don't forget to add your short one paragraph explanation as to why you created these animations. Sounds cheesy but artsy people like it hehe.

Good point about the comments ryall.

Cheers!

Well, I really think we have enough forums -and spam :bad: -- as it is right now. Just my opinion :)

kirupa
February 16th, 2003, 07:37 PM
Yeah, I think Random or even Flash MX will be good enough for that. Besides, we provide the source code for all animations - what more could people want besides that (wonders why people post in Flash MX anyway lol)? =)

Cheers!

I have a question. Are you going to have to come up with a little tiny icon for each new experiment? Hmmm that might get hard after a while ;)

kirupa
February 17th, 2003, 09:23 AM
rofl! Yes sen, I will have to do that. Actually, I am re-using the icons currently used on the site. Many of the icons have tiny details and such that are used to make up the whole, larger icon. I just cut out the tiny portions of those icons and use them.

Of course, I guess I could always *shocked* reuse the icons hehe.

Cheers!

Thanks for the icons Soul =) I am looking for icons that are less than 10x10 pixels though. Guig0, cropping smaller icons from larger icons is the highlight of my day - how can you take that away from me??

Cheers!

Wow K-man... For an international man of mystery and espionage you certainly lead a boring like... ;)

kirupa
February 17th, 2003, 10:11 AM
Well Jubba, at first I really enjoyed being an "International Man of Mystery" (IMM). But, as is the case with anything in life, I really got tired of doing cool IMM stuff 24/7 such as saving the world, driving the cool cars, filling out paperwork, ski-ing, hanging out with cool people, etc.) I, obviously, started to find peace and solace in cropping icons done by other people.

And I have no school today - President's Day - so I have plenty of time to do nothing but spam the forums =)

Cheers!

ewww you have no school!?! Enjoy it, because once you get to college you don't get ANY of those holidays off!! Also today we have like 13 inches of snow, every school in a 10 mile radius is closed, but my university will not close down! Even the nearby community college is closed...!! These people are so stupid... I almost died walking to class, I wouldn't be driving in this crap...
