Me and a few other people are trying to create a browser. I would like to ask.... What would you love in a browser?
ie: what awsome features would you love that you have not seen, or are rare
Also, What do you love in a browser?
ie: what features in todays browsers do you love, and are must haves for everybrowser/must have features.
Thanks,
Porpous
Edit: if you want, it would be great to post lists!

Super super SUPER smooth scrolling is nice.
Also, it can't be a resource hog. That is a must.

i cant live without tabs
an option that automatically loads the page in a new tab
an easy way to clear the cache, cookies, history, and saved form info
a password management system
bookmarks below the adress bar
and i also like the little google option in firefox :)

I don't know if anyone has ever done anything much in mIRC, but I really liked how you could customize mIRC any way you liked. I used it for a long time, and got pretty good at setting it up exactly how I wanted.
I wish that there was a browser that was that customizable. I wish that you could mold it exactly to your needs.

If you know Javascript/CSS, then you can customize Mozilla/Firefox like that :)
And if you know C++, because it's open source you can customize it as much as you want.

Yes but you have to recompile and hack the kernal, and all that complicated crap. The great thing about mIRC was that you could customize it on the fly. There are millions of scripts that have been written for it. If you wanted to change something you could click a button and see how it was being done. Are ya feeling me?

that is exactly what our browser is for. We want out browser to be a browser for developers. Like everything is based around making the whole thing customizable, and creating features for it (extensions... its open source).... Also a lot of features for developers too.

well i have figured out LOTS of the spyware i usto get came from banner ads and stuff. And ever since i got this program that allows me to block all banner ads by right click ing on the certain graphic and removing it... (never will appear again) i have only gotten 0 to 1 amounts of spyware/adware per week! I want to make a program/addition to my browser allowing one to block certain images, swfs, and iframes, but ALSO it will be automatically updated to block all sites that provide ads, you can send sites that provide ads also, and it will be checked by a mod. You can allways remove these sites from your list if you want these ads... so that will help a little.

what I want: ONE D*AMED BROWSER FOR ALL... something that doesnt hog resources, tabs are a plus (but definitly not required), just decent functional browser. The main thing I want to see is some standardization.... obviously you cant do this, but I am just ranting anyway - its how I feel.
peace
oh good luck with the browser, I cant wait to see/use it when it is done!

Yes but it has to be customizable for everyone. Not just developers. I don't want to have to learn C++, Fortran, Visual Basic, and Pascal to be able to customize this thing.

My perfect browser would be firefox, only it would have the option to render webpages just like IE...like you could set it to always display ESPN.com like IE does (hey, I get tired of looking at ESPN.com all screwed up) and would have the option to be preloaded all the time like IE.

It would be cool to have some function that shows if you have new email or whatnot. I dunno.
A dictionary? Thesaurus? A few built in games? Customizable skin? Calculator isn't needed as much since you already have one in your start menu, but it would be sort of cool...
Definetly needs a "history" of where you have browsed within the past 2 weeks (or months if you guys can lol).
Direct buttons that open up every messenger you have installed. Like on IE, I have ICQ, Yahoo, AIM and MSN. There are 4 little icons on the top that open each.
A print button (of course). A favorites menu. Google search.
These are all just ideas. I'm not saying you should have all of these. Just some things I think would make the browser more friendly. But you should never crowd it up with too much things though :).

to the favorites menu thing... we will also ad a feature allowing you to set your bookmarks as shorcut buttons
like to go to a bookmarked page ... for example i could set kirupa as 1 and i would click cntrl 1 and it would open the page, and cntrl 2 might open kirupa forums.... ect... good idea?

netscape aol bought it.... aol made aim, want aim and the browser to be more popular so they just implemented it, msn explorers creators made msn, to make both more popular they implemented it because they both are the creators.... maybe if i could contact trillian.... :) hmm... maybe

If anything is going to be integrated into a browser, I think it should be google. There should be lot's of google "sections"
How about a section that says "if you like what you are alooking at now, you may also like this" and then it would have a search from google similiar to what you are currently viewing.

Great idea porpous. But I have too many favorites :P. Maybe like a function where you press alt + f to open the favs menu and it shows a little number next to each. Kirupa.com is number 1 so if I press the #1 key it closes the menu and takes me to kirupa.com.

But what about when you think you're typing into a text box (and let's say this is a really important text box), but really you aren't, 'cause we all know that happens. So if you wanted to type a number into the box, you'd end up going to a different page and possibly losing a lot of work.
