Tomorrow morning at 7:03 AM Central time, I'll start off on a 26.2 mile journey to complete my first marathon. Having been sick with the flu for most of the week, including my birthday, my goal is to simply cross the finish line.
Bored and want to see how I'm doing?
Got to www.mercedesmarathon.com and look for runner #862: Bryan Woods.
I'm shooting for a time of 4 hours and thirty minutes... Anyways, using a chip placed on my shoe, it will post the times at certain stations to keep everyone informed about all runners...
Be my guest at a forum pool, over under 4:30 at 100/110... ;)
Wish me luck guys, and have a good day!
Time to get some rest.

Good luck Bryan. I am glad you are feeling well enough to run in a marathon. I had the flu a few weeks ago, and it is tough to even get up and do something - much less run 20+ miles. Congrats for even attempting it =)
Cheers!

I was a finisher. I past the halfway mark at 2:00 exactly and was well on the pace of of 3:57-4:07 when at my 20 my leg spasmed and basically decided it didn't want to run anymore...
I remembered everythign EXCEPT, sodium pills to replace the lost salt... it took 2:38 hours to complete the last 13.3.
So first marathon, I finished, and did it in 4 hours and 38 minutes.
San Diego on June 1st.
BTW, a marathon is more than a three syllable word, I found strength in me in those last 6 miles I didn't know I had... It's an incredible feeling.
I think now I know why people climb Everest. I can't explain it. But I encourage you to run one just once in your life...
Thanks again...

I can't bend from the knees and my calves just filed an abuse report with the proper authorities...
don't do it... unless you run 18 miles weekly anyways...
I'm going to go have my knees replaced with whatever Lowe's Hardware deems appropriate...
it was worth it to me... but then again, I always dreamed of being prefontaine at a very early age...
Now, my next goal is to conquer flash and actionscript...
just as hard as the marathon I'm sure you'd agree.
