I'd like it better if they actually did all the work themselves. It's been said they outsourced a lot of it. For that reason, I have a hard time giving it the respect others may feel it deserves. Besides that, something about it just doesn't quite sit right with me.

//edit: and the link isn't working :smirk:

I had a feeling of this too. The site is probably down for final touches to it or temporary server technicalities.

No actually flashlevel.com and his work has the best after effects ;).

Trust me - check out his stuff.

yeah these kigot guys did next to none of the work themselves. I can understand farming out your weaknesses like I do when I have php gigs. BUt they boast design skills and actually farmed those out. I like the site but cant really respect the company.

I'm guessing Nike Lab was made by some outside firm.

Jeff Wheeler
July 8th, 2004, 03:24 PM
I think at one point nike lab was by hilman curtis, but then they did it again or soemthing, or maybe I'm just making this up... I could've sworn that hilman curtis was related to nike lab somehow

A site like this one with really good display of animation should also be aware of spelling and grammar because i saw a bit of that.

I keep hearing "aftereffects"... Are you saying they used Adobe Aftereffects to create those animations? Man if so, I've gotta get my hands on that program!

And you only post that on SOTW if the owner/designer(s) is posting it. And yes AE, and/or Combustion is used to do it.

I just got an email from the owner of Kigot yesterday. Looks like they're not doing very well as a team.

Hi
For some reasons design studio kigot stops the work.
And we have decided to you to offer all site (psd. fla. max. files) + host / domen (5000 visitings and 50 letters per day) If you are interested in purchase contact to us.

DDD
September 7th, 2004, 06:12 PM
I heard this too actually. I think it stems from the fact they actually did little of that work themselves. The actual design studio (who did the work) spoke up because of all the awards they were winning.

The source files for this site are for sale? What happened?

prototype

I really liked the 3D interface. But, man, it weighed in at 2.4 MB! A lot of the body text is a raster render, not raw text. They could have kept the particle effects to one or two, not four. I mean it's a slick design but not well executed to be delivered to the masses.

jdan
October 1st, 2004, 10:48 PM
Being on 11mbit I can't really say anything about the load times...

The look was impressive, until the site layout zoomed in at the end.
They really could have done plenty better on that.. It was just dull.
Also if I turn the sound off in their menu, it turns itself back on after a little bit.
So all in all, the intro was pretty.. the site was garbage. :)

Yes, a major component of it is using AE. Im not that insterested in Kigot until it was outsourced and the source files were for sale apparently.

I've seen better after effects to be honest :sigh:. This site looks like it used just a little bit of the presets on the effect plugins they bought with some tweaking. The spider is cool, but the rest isnt that amazing.

www.shilodesign.com has better.

never before i was looking some thing like this project ...from Urcaine: ok...

but ...i don't like music, i hate 3D -- i hate this spupid spider and all alll all!

this site in general with some files for sale realy crazy! some dudes from Kiev... like maybe all from the East -- with out culture, owh history, minimal respect for typographic, colors, composition....

I know more nice programmers from Ucraine, Russia, it's very strong and cool guys, but DESIGN brrrrrrr! Design is TABU for Ucraine. Sorry, is not "kool site" for me.

If you've seen the site and knew there was a previous thread then good for you, obviously others didn't. I'm just suprised how snotty some people have been about "This is old news" kinda attitude. This is what some people were saying would happen with this Cool Sites thread and I thought "Nah, this is a friendly site people wouldn't be like that here" sorry to say they were right

How MTSoul did it is the way to do it, the rest isn't...made me kinda sad to see this :(
