making a RPG game

i'm planning to make an RPG game that kinda looks like runescape (www.runescape.com) what type of program should i use? and what book should i buy?

well, runescape was made with java, maybe go to a bookstore and get a book on gamedesign with java? i dunno if there are any but thats what i would do...:)

you could do an mmorpg in flash. www.ogreisland.com is an example. however games like that lag really bad so your probably better off doing it in java or c
