OKie smokie! I am deciding if I should get Unreal 2004. So many people say its rockin'. I believe them but a nice confirmation from here would be nice. Is it really an awesome game. EGM has an advertisement and it got mostly 9's and 10's out of 10. Is it all just capture the flag or is it like Quake with different modes of gameplay. The bottom line: is it worth 34.99 on amazon.com?

I'm a huge fan of the UT series, and I mainly play UT2k3 (I rock at it, yeah, I do :gm: ), but I've only DL'ed the demo of UT2k4 and I don't know if I'm going to buy the full version.

As for your question about CTF, of course that's not the only gamemode, you've also got Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Bombing Run, Assault (<cool), etc... at least if that was what your question was about :)

Just the assault-mode made buying the game worth it for me. IMNSHO you should definitely buy it if you're into 3D-shooters.

It's a really good game both single and multiplayer. It's the game UT2003 should have been. The game types are all awesome mixing some classics like CTF and Deathmatch with some new and very interesting ones. The modding community seems to support it quite heavily already so you can find some great mods for it already as well. (see Alien Swarm) I bought it as soon as it came out and I haven't regretted it one bit.

One word of negativity though, make sure you have a LARGE amount of space on your hardrive. It takes up almost 5 1/2 Gigs on my drive.

oh and if you're a ut99 nostalgist you're in for a treat, too - the assault mode is back, better than ever :D

Unreal sucks a lot!, but Unreal Tourament is the best game I can hardly wait to play Unreal Championship 2!!!! :hr:

Unreal Championship on xbox live was the best. What are you talking about?

Unreal Championship 2 is now out for xbox. Heard it sucks. Don't know.

Im used to playing RPGs with pcs and UT is one of the games. I quite enjoy it and the rocket laucher is a beast. Just dont dont shoot yourself with it. Hey does anyone still play Delta force BHD anymore? I love that game...

Yep - Unreal Championship for xbox was amazing on live. Things happened so fast all you had to do is pick a position and shoot to live lol.

UT2k4 is excellent! Ever since they patched the slow loading times, the game is excellent! This is one of the best FPS games I have ever played. Onslaught is simply excellent.

Yeah, it's a really fun game. I mainly play Deathmatch but sometimes Onslaught. The graphics are really smooth and the game play is excellent.

Can't wait for the next one. 2k5?

Can't wait for the next one. 2k5?I like Team Deathmatch a lot also. I wonder how they will top 2k4? Either way though, I will defintely need to update my PC for 2k5. My Radeon 9600 Pro works fairly well at 1024x768 with most of the settings on max, but at any higher resolution, I get massive frame rate loss.

ut2k4 is very good. and sooo much better than 2k3. is the price you quoted in US dollars? because it really isn't worth £34.99... not anymore anyway...

Did anyone here buy the 2 disc DVD edition of UT 2004? I can't view the video tutorials on the bonus CD for some reason. If I try to open the movie by going to the HTML, it says Quicktime is missing some add ons that are not available for download (why is Quicktime handling AVI anyway?). So I try going right to the AVI movie files with Windows Media Player. It turns out that I only hear the audio and there isn't any video.

I have the 2 DVD version also. I just played the videos in my real-world DVD player, and it worked. Try what Krilnon said and open it directly with WMP.

WMP - only plays the audio (manuel run from directory)
Quicktime - can't play at all (traverse through DVD menus)
DVD Player - when I get to video tutorials, it says "insert DVD into computer to view."

Which codec do I need for WMP?

I suggest getting a codec pack to cover the bases - I have Tsunami Codec Pack personally.

When you go to a map you don't have for the first time, Unreal downloads it so you can play. The map won't appear if you play offline. Why?

I just tried a demo version online for X-Box UnrealChampionship2. Not really the same as UT which is my favorite... but fun as hell. Melle battles, kickass power ups. I tore through a group of people and scared the **** out of them playin as a huge Skaarj.:D

Yea. Its got a whole buntch of new features. Finishing moves, new char(s), etc. Though I don't like how they have Raiden from MortalKombat in it. Another downfall though is glitchs. I found a fun cool one, but people began watching me and figured it out. You can kick up walls and in one level you can continously kick up the walls all the way to the top of the level. I recomend this game though. Lots of fun. (Except CTF)
