I've had this problem with my 2-pc LAN for quite a while. My setup is as follows:
P4 2.8 - WinXP Pro SP1
P3 800 - Win2K Pro SP4
Billion 4-port ADSL router

The lights on my router are green for both PCs, indicating a 100mb/s connection, but the maximum speed I get is about 5mb/s (600kB/s)!!!
Transferring files takes forever!!

I've Googled this problem to death, but found no solution :(
Is there some patch or registry setting or something? I have no idea.
Oh, im also using Sygate Personal Firewall, if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance :disco:

Hmmm... my only advice would be check your firewall and make sure both pc's have complete access to each other (allow full access to both ip's) and check your network settings for all your network cards and for the router and make sure everything is set to 100mbit/s. Also remember XP has a built in (and in my opinion, useless) firewall. Check thats disabled and maybe that will make a difference? Perhaps you have some dodgy network cables or network cards? The only other thing I could think of would be actual hardware problems. There could be a firewall built into the router and maybe there are some settings you need to change there. Those are all the problems I had when setting up my LAN... hope it helps you :)
