Anyone ever been to an open casting call?

I'm off tomorrow morning to the casting call for The Billionaire. Sort of like The Apprentice but for entreprenuers and adventure seekers. Will be run by Richard Branson the Maverick Billionaire owner of Virgin Mega Corporation.

I think this is perfect for me, so it's worth a shot to go but I have no idea what to expect for the process of the casting.

Any ideas? well wishes?

If you say it too often people we know that I pay you...

Thanks for the well wishes. It's hard because I wonder if they want you to be sort of outrageous... I tend to not be myself when in unfamiliar settings, so it will be an exercise to jsut relax and be charismatic.

Maybe I should go outside onto Sunset and collect signature from people who say they will watch the show if I am on it.

Ok, so i'm back from the casting call. It was an experience although it was not what I hoped it would be.

There were only a few hundred people that showed so I'm glad I got there at a little before the opening time and not at 6am or anything. We had to stand outside in the sun waiting for maybe an hour.

We had to fill out applications that asked basic name and contact information...
What our friends would say our strengths are
What our friends would say our weaknesses are
What our most embarrassing moment was
What our biggest issue we're facing is

Thats about it for the application.

Then they took us in groups of 10 or so and all sat down at a table together. There were 3 casting directors seeing these groups. She sat us down and went around asking us to say our name, age and what we do. I wish now that I had said something generic so she would have to ask me more questions and I could have told her how many companies I run and all the different things I do, but alas I jsut said Internet Developer.

Then she asked the table if we vote and then what we think of the upcoming election. There were 2 guys who jumped at the chance to share their knowlege of politics with us and a few others who tried to jump into the conversation. It felt sort of like a silly sad attempt to get attention to try to get in over these guy so I just remained quite and interjected little comments and tried ot make eye contact with the casting director.

It was funny that the group I was with was.. A Upper Manager for Business Development for Nissan. A hedge fund investment fund manager. An inventor who kept talking about his inventions... Even said his friends call him little Branson...(I almost laughed... Branson isn't an invetor you idiot, he's an entreprenuer. Same class , different fish.) I felt like a lot of the guys that were there were Apprentice Show drop outs...

I thought this show was looking for people like Branson. Most of these people I can't imagine seek out physical challenges regularly in life like Branson does. They were corprate croneys not entreprenuers... and thats who stole my stage time.

I'm a little sad they didn't take time to meet us 1 on 1. Actually get an idea of who we are, instead of seeing who will talk the loudest about politics...

So that was it. They did give us a sheet of paper saying that the casting directors were only chosing like 1 in 500 people that showed. Seems like the same odds as buying a lottery ticket... maybe I should go get one.

Here is a picture of my wristband from the casting call.

Yeah I don't imagine a call back, I'm sure to be called from 1 of 500 you have to make a pretty big impression in a group setting.

In other news. I just woke up from a nap starring our own Fester.
He started out as a homeless man that I bumped into in the street who proceeded to pick a fight with me. By the point in the dream that I was kicking the crap out of the bum and about to choke him to death Fester had been replaced by Kid Rock. Who I guessed lived next door. When I got home I called fester to tell him, "Look this is between you and me... our families don't get invloved.."

Then I woke up

I just wonder at what point you have to be on this forum so much that you dream you're trying to kill a fellow poster?

Probably quite a lot. :)

I've been to a few dance auditions before for various things, and they're really quite unpleasant. There's a difference between healthy competition and the downright backstabbing that goes on at some of them. :sigh:

All good experience though. :)
