some QA help please

I have just completed a proof of concept (of a project on CD) for a client, and need a lot of people to push all kinds of buttons, and let me know if some combo doesn't work.

Please try to remember the combination of buttons, so I can recreate the error, so I can find the root problem.

Ok, I will test more later, but right now...

I am supposing the only car you can edit is the SUV? Because that is the only one that works for me. Others show up or say not available yet, but I can't edit them at all.


Also, when you choose the SUV button again after clicking on another one, the intro text comes in the textbox and replaces the window in there. Is this supposed to happen?

yes, the suv is the only one which works (all the rest say not available on demo), and yes on clicking the suv again, you start over again from scratch. It will be that way in the production version as well.

So far so good though, I don't think I hit anything that didn't work.


Although: If you use custom art that you can drag around on the cars, is there a way to remove if after you select one just in case you want to change it?

yes, either drag it off of the car, or hit reset button in the menu.

If you choose Custom Graphic in the "Select Hood Image" category there is no reset button.

This thing goes out on CD to 150 CEO's, like a rather large office supply co., etc.

meanwhile, I make this one fully operational...

BTW - this is all MX syntax - nothing copied and pasted...

This is very good.


Ok, I found a bug.



When in the "Select Side Image Position" section if you select one category and choose any image it sets it, but if you choose ANOTHER type of image positioning without hitting reset first it screws up the masks and the old one is still left on there.


Perhaps disabling the buttons except the reset, or maybe just removing the other buttons when one is chosen unless the reset button is pressed.

we call that a feature...

the client can "build" his wrap, putting a background image over the entire car, then put another image on the windows, etc.

Ok, when adding text to the car, you should specify how many characters in the textbox.


You can also limit the amount of characters you can add in an input textbox in the properties panel as well.


Just a suggestion.




Other than what I have stated so far, I can't find anything wrong with it man. This is truly great, must have taken quite some time. Congrats.

thanks again, I will look at limiting the text box when I do the production version.

It has taken about a hundred hours, over a month's time...

the final version will have at least 30 categories, and many, many vehicles...

I'm doing okay on this one. The pay off is the quality of referrals I am hoping to get off of this job...

the client wants to make several versions of this (all Ford's cars for example), with 1000's of copies... He also wants to put this as kiosks in 500 auto parts stores across the country (he's based out of NY)...

could be the big break I have been looking for...

Where's Phil... I want him to try this out on his dial-up....

As for Phil, I have no clue, but if you are wondering on load time, I am on broadband and sometimes the images took a while to load in the galleries.

the bug in the "Select hood image" category isn't quite fixed. If you select a category then choose "back to categories" then "custom art" IS available again in the menu.

the loadtime:

yeah, I am dynamically loading all of the jpegs (in the final version you will be able to upload your own images as well), and sometimes they take a while to get through the net... on the CD this won't be an issue... I haven't optimized this for the web yet... that will be one of the last things...

as to Phil...I am more curious about how the videos look to a dial-up (I've never imported mpegs before) to tell the truth...

thanks for noticing that - Both the welcome and the FAQ is loaded externally with a .txt, so the client is rewriting the whole thing, then I will copy and paste once it is signed off.

Well, I went thru ur submission, its really cool..
well, is there a way to remove certain graphic i placed on the car,if i didnt like it, no not restetting the whole thing but juz the current one, coz when i clik on each designs, and if i didnt like certain image after i placing it, say i had already placed few images.. the last one i wanted.. i didnt like it, so is there a way to remove it, i mean have u included that ? do u think it should be included.. juz a thing i noticed.. thanx.. cheers... but really neat work .. jAy

each section has it's own reset, plus to change an image you have placed on the side, just click the same button you just did to select that section of the side again...

in other words, you have selected an item for the entire side of the car... you decide you don't like that photo, so you click the icon on the left for the whole side again (just like you did before the photo galleries come up), and voila, you are reset...

no idea if this has been mentioned, much too tired too read any posts

when you click on Select Back Image, there is no reset button above the 2 cars, so if you first choose the top back, then decide to go with whole back, the top image remains

oh yea, i think its pretty cool if you double click the car it resets, althought some people might do it by accident and reset the whole thing, rather there should be a reset car button at top like its there in side image position...should be included in back?

can't think of anything good critcism with only 2 hours of sleep in 50 some odd hours

when you first enter the site, all the links work fine

In Action, Wrap Facts, Videomonials etc etc

but when you go to add text wrap, none of the links work

edit: but if you hit reset text you can see it beneath the text screen for the brief instant

ok if you click solid background color, then PICk a color....lets pick blue for this example because i love blue....anyways, after you pick any color then try to chg background scene, it doesn't chg it....until you clear background color

ok how about this, when you "open the site" pick something OTHER than suv .........you can add text and custom art , i know there will be cars there later but for demo its no good

edit: dont pick the vans or sedan either...try like boat

one more, click Select Side Image Position, and scroll down all the way to last car, its all white and it does nothing....i think you may need to remove it or something

i can't seem to find anything else....i am really impressed, one thing you may want to consider for a future version of this autowrap thing is having a rotational car instead of 3 stationary views, it would look hella cool if you could view car in 360 viewing it from side to side!!! keep up the good work and good luck =) =)

just when i thought i was done....if you click add text, and you have added MANY MANY dif text in dif areas...., then decide you want to chg color of car to see how it looks on black ( :) ), so you click select actual color and chg it 2 black :) WOW it looks good :) now.....i think i want to add text to the drivers door......WHAM all text is gone.... :*( noooooooooooooooooooooooo

edit: same thing with custom art
