View Full Version : Why Gmail?

I'm curious to know...why would people need 1000MB worth of email space? 100MB from yahoo is a lot, isn't 1000 overdoing it? what kind of emails do you receive, eh? :bad:
of course there's always the reason of "why not?", I mean, since it's free, why not just go for it.
I think google should instead come up with an online storage system. 1GB of online space. for free. And they wouldn't have to compete with other mail providers (well it's a good thing they pushed yahoo to 100MB and possibly hotmail to 25MB)
so..what would you use 1000MB of email storage for? :)
i know it's a little ironic to be posting this after i have requested for one, but i'm just curious to know what everyone is gonna use their gmail for :P

competition i guess!
"why should i sign up with yahoo, if i can get more email storage free from google?"
otherwise:
"they both are the samething, i'll just sign up with yahoo since more people has it!"
but i do recieve large files everyonce in a while. it comes in handy ;)

I think people like GMail for more reasons other than just the fact that its 1GB of e-mail space.
I for one use it for the handy search feature, the fast connections, the pretty, non-ad interface (well just text ads every now and then), i mean my list goes on and on as to why I like it, the fact that they slapped 1GB tag onto it just made it so much better.

Interesting article, Hansel!
good point about competition, mansour. however, that means our local isp's are gonna get busted too, eh? Nobody would be attracted to their email offers anymore :(
I too receive large files once in a while...but definitely not often enough to fill up even 100MB, and I've never received an email as big as 500MB (is that even possible?) ;)
syko ... the link in your sig is a similar case as hansel's link ;)
and i've been using Firefox since it was still a bird
