Heya all,

Got back from Japan last late last week, and that motivated me to get some of the digital pictures up on the site, and try and finish a few minor tweeks.

http://www.stormwalker.net

The site is pretty much finished, except for a little content the is under devolpment now. The photo gallerys are good to go after some minor code adjustment with the help of Claudio (Thanks again!) I created the site entirely in Flash 5. I think it turned out ok given the fact that I am not all that good with flash. :) Comment as you like.

Cheers!

i think you have a good start, simple clean transitions - cool, not too fond of the magenta on blue color scheme though, just my thoughts.

looks too much like flash newbie sites, especially the rectangles going through the site...

looks like you know a bit of coding since you did internal preloaders & the clock... try working around a visual theme a bit more...

I am a flash newbie... =) I was a little concerned about the rectangles as well... I am trying to think of a better transition.

HTML/Javascript sites can be nice as well. don't think you have to make your site in flash to look good. sometimes it makes it look worse when you don't know what your doing.

sry but yes it looks like a n00b site.

Its ok, I didn't expect it to look like a professional site. :) I am not a web design professional by trade. I do this as a hobby really, the main point of my site was to get some of my photos online, and see if I could make a flash site that worked. It may surprise you to know that I know less HTML and Java then I do flash. For me the only way I could have a full function site was if I made it in flash. Anyhoo... Thanks for the feedback, I am removing the trasitions they looked much better in my head when I was gathering ideas. :) I am thinking a simple fade in for the scenes.

Cheers!

thats good for a first try at least you know the basics of flash keep messing around with movie clips and don't give up , practise makes perfect and don't let any negitive critiscm discourage you!

i just released my site too and i personally think it looks good and if anyone tells me it sucks oh well because others tell me it looks good so i know its not bad at least but anyways your sites not bad and its a very good first start better than mine thats for sure hehe :)

I updated the site today to remove the trasitions between the sections. I think not at least some of the n00b factor is gone. I did not want an interface that looked to cluttered. Thanks for all the Feedback. =)

You reeeeeeeally need to change the color scheme. Blue, purple, and yellow do not look together. It makes it look like it was made in GeoCities PageBuilder.

What the hell are AMV's?

Well you have something to work with there.
What I would personally suggest is that you work with lighting and shading, on the borders and the buttons. This could help a lot in terms of the visual side.

The font is a little difficult to read too.

I happen to be color challenged, I know the colors don't really work all that great, I am trying to improve on that little by little. I think I may have an artist friend take a look and give me som sugestions, she is realy good with color. :) Thanks again for the feedback.

Cheers!

Niann,
I think that you did a very nice job. Its your first site, its a basic site. You got your pictures on, you accomplished what you set out to do. Don't take the critiques to heart, they aren't there to discourage you. Building a site is a working progress, you can't expect to build one overnight and have it be perfect. Adding adding adding, changing changing changing. Your tastes will change, the layout will change, the content will change. Its like the foundation to the house. Most of the pro's have sites they have been working on for years. it may say version 1.2 but its really 129.343. I like the clock, love the lightning bolts. WTF is an AMV?

AMV=Anime Music Video

Take a bunch of footage of some Anime, toss it together with an editor (ie Premiere) and set it to a cool song of your choice. You can checkout http://www.animemusicvideos.org for more info. =)
