I've been having some problems with direct connecting on aim. I'm using Zone alarm and a router firewall. Can someone tell me wht ports to open up to allow direct connections?
Also any gaim users here?

It's a FOSS replacement for AIM that runs on Linux and Windows (and maybe OSX as well, don't know)

Yeah GAIM is so sick. It's godlike!
MSN, Yahoo, AIM, and more all in one app ;)

When you direct connect make sure you and your buddy have the same version. at least the same number (like 5, 4, etc).

On gaim when others try to direct connect with me and when i click accept it does nothing. Also for all gaim users how do you direct connect with others on the new versions. It seems as if the link was removed.

It can be.. and Unix/Linux app can be run under OSX natively using the built in X Server (but it's quite complex)

No you cant run it on OS X natively. You could run it under our Darwin (UNIX) core if i am thinking correctly - but that would be a pain in the arse and I dont think its really worth it.
Use iChat and MSN messenger - no one uses Yahoo! so thats all you really need. iChat has ICQ, .Mac, and AIM in one (AOL bough ICQ so thats why its in there :D).
