get someone to trace it with either CorelDraw, Illustrator, Freehand, Fireworks, and last but not least Gimp which is a free software that has both raster and vector graphic tools like Fireworks other than that there aint much you cant do :-/ good luck

#Senocular... the trouble is like this.. he made the logo in jpg.. and ordered a product at the printers.. the printers does'nt jpg (dhuu) but need .ai or .eps....
#grimdeath.. if i import it in to flash MX and export it as .esp or .ai is that ok?

Trouble is that whilst you can convert a vector image to a bitmap easily enough, it doesn't work so well the other way round. You could try it with Flash, but you might well lose all the quality if it needs to be enlarged. Plus jpg's sometimes don't import too clearlt (that's why png's are generally better).
But really, your best bet it to have it traced.

JPG isnt exactly a format you start off in. There has got to be some other source file this person has worked with to make the image which may (or may not) help you in the conversion.
If not, I'll have to also go with the tracing option. Basic logos aren't often that too complex and can be somewhat easily traced within an hour or so - most always within a day.

If the printer doesn't have to make modifications himself, why can't you just send him a .tif?

Maybe he has it in a small size which will not print well, and jpgs always ahve white background around them tiffs and vector graphics dont ;)

post the logo. that can help us a lil more present you a solution, freehand has a good trace bitmap feature. Just because you save a jpg as a eps does not mean the printer will be able to use it.

What about Adobe Steamline (http://www.adobe.com/products/streamline/main.html)? I personally have never used it, but it sounds like it might work. :ne:

adobe streamline = Freehands trace bitmap function. Never knew why they just dont integrate it with AI. But I have never had real success with Streamline. Results are unpredictable. But then again I tried it like 10x and stopped..
If it is not too difficult I am willing to trace it for you in AI if you have exhausted all your resources.
