What about XML links?
XML with flash....
Without flash.....
More resources then just the ones here, which are great, just not exhaustive.
Jubba
May 18th, 2004, 09:20 PM
XML isn't a serverside language which is why it wasn't included when the list was first made. XML is datastorage, first and foremost. It is merely used in conjunction with server-side languages quite a bit.
jjmancini
May 19th, 2004, 12:42 PM
Would it then be worth to start a new forum area for just XML? Becasue there are a lot of questions regarding it.
Just a thought. Thanks!

Client-side scripting is technically where I would put XMl but if you are using XML with PHP or ASP or some other Server-side script then here would be the place, but this thread isn't for XML tutorials (well at least originally). When I update the lists I may include an XMl section.

Awesome!
That would be great!

Did i miss something or wasnt www.php.net not included which to my knowledge has the biggest tutorial on php :)
Freddythunder
July 11th, 2004, 02:09 PM
http://us3.php.net/tut.php
I think you did miss something. Sure, there's a tutorial, but there's nothing much more than to show you a few simple things. Unless there's a secret tutorial section that I can't find.
Jubba
July 17th, 2004, 09:49 PM
Actually I think you did miss something freddy-boy. PHP.net has a fairly large instructional section for people starting out with php. From basic syntax to OOP classes and the like.
http://us4.php.net/manual/en/language.basic-syntax.php
and then from there you can find any other function you need help on.
And yes I neglected to put php.net up there for some stupid reason. I know it was on my original list but I just failed to convert it over when I posted the thread. When I revise this list It will be more comprehensive.
Freddythunder
July 18th, 2004, 02:40 PM
Though I have never looked at that section before, I wouldn't really call that tutorials, but examples of how to use code. Somewhat like what you would see in the function list. However - I see how it can help. My bad! ;)

Very useful tool to develop php/mysql websites: http://www.easyphp.org/
This sets up an apache server on your machine (which you can access from your browser at http://127.0.0.1/localfiles ) and a local mysql database, which you can configure to have the same set up as your on-line server.
I heavily recommend it !

Just thought I should say:
PHP
If you ever come across a function you want to know more about, you can almost always just type '[function name] php' in google, press 'I'm feeling lucky' and come straight to a page about the function from php.net (http://www.php.net).
Such as: str_replace php (http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=str_replace+php&btnI=Google+Search&meta=).

It seems to me that the links are broken under the JavaScript section to Lycos's Webmonkey. Just an FWI. Thanks for compiling the list guys.

Great overall article! There is a TON of code snippets (http://www.askapache.com/htaccess/apache-htaccess.html) and SSL usage in .htaccess (http://www.askapache.com/htaccess/apache-ssl-in-htaccess-examples.html)
Here are some SSL in Apache (http://www.askapache.com/htaccess/ssl-example-usage-in-htaccess.html) examples:
SSL Redirect Method (doesn't require mod_rewrite!)
SSLOptions +StrictRequire forces forbidden access (403) when SSLRequireSSL or SSLRequire decide access should be forbidden. Usually where a [WWW] Satisfy Any directive is used, this denial of access is overridden. For strict access restriction you can use SSLRequireSSL and/or SSLRequire in combination with an SSLOptions +StrictRequire Then an additional Satisfy Any has no chance once [WWW] mod_ssl has decided to deny access.
SSLRequireSSL forbids access unless HTTP over SSL (i.e. HTTPS) is enabled for the current connection.
SSLRequire forbids access unless HTTP_HOST matches your SSL certificate (in this case, the certificate is for askapache.com not www.askapache.com) (http://www.askapache.com%29).
If either of those 2 checks fail (403), then the [WWW] ErrorDocument directive uses a 302 to redirect the browser to https://askapache.com.
SSLOptions +StrictRequire
SSLRequireSSL
SSLRequire %{HTTP_HOST} eq "askapache.com"
ErrorDocument 403 https://askapache.comNote: Checking for the correct HTTP_HOST fixes the problem with Basic Authentication asking for the username/password twice, and also fixes security errors about your SSL certificate.
Alternative to above method (doesn't require mod_ssl!)
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} !=on
RewriteRule .* - [F]
ErrorDocument 403 https://askapache.comor
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} !=on
RewriteRule .*$ https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [QSA,R=301,L]NOTE: The HTTPS variable is always present, even if mod_ssl isn’t loaded! This is useful if a non-SSL server is redirecting to a different SSL-enabled server.
Redirect everything served on port 80 to SSL
RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} ^80$
RewriteRule .* https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [QSA,R=301,L]Redirecting to SSL or non-SSL using relative URIs
RewriteRule ^/(.*):SSL$ https://%{SERVER_NAME}/$1 [QSA,R=302,L]
RewriteRule ^/(.*):NOSSL$ http://%{SERVER_NAME}/$1 [QSA,R=302,L]
