Hi everyone!
I have long since I tried www.habbohotell.com (http://www.habbohotell.com), how would I make something like this? it uses Shockwave I think, what is Shockwave?

I thought that I could have everything work just with like a MySQL database, and just storing all the X and Y positions, but maybe that wouldn't work, where should I start? I control flash,AS and PHP, do I have to learn anything more?

Thank you all!

depends.
since most of the socket servers are quite expensive i suggest using mysql if possible.
especially if you are working on a rounds based game (chess for example) it is a good alternative.
if work on something like a realtime game where both players move simultaneously, I strongly suggest using a socket server

Well I would go with a socket server even with a turn based game. But that's must me :P

explaination off macromedia.com

Over 390 million Web users have installed Macromedia Shockwave Player. These people now have access to some of the best the Web has to offer - including dazzling 3D games and entertainment, interactive product demonstrations, and online learning applications. Shockwave Player displays Web content that has been created by Macromedia Director.
