hello guys from the Philippines.
i'd like to know the status of freelancing in the Philippines. I am thinking of moving to freelancing but I still have no idea on where to start. Can you give me some tips and some sites that offers freelance projects...
thanks in advance...

Parasite I've never found any good work online. Maybe it's just my luck but the four or five jobs I got from freelance sites have sucked. I made very little money and didn't get paid at all in one instance.
Firstly I'd suggest that you don't call yourself a freelancer. It just sounds unprofessional. Secondly, I'd say that you should be talking to everyone you know and getting the word out that you're in business. If you know of anyone in a management position or someone that owns a business this is where you should start. Thirdly, pick up the yellow pages and start dialing. If you sense that someone has a remote interest in getting a site done then do a mock up of a layout and present it to them. I got three jobs this year by doing mock ups. I figure that once you put their name or logo on it then they own it and it's an easy sell (provided that you did a good job).
Good luck

O yea Parasite expect to be turned down and don't take it personally if someone doesn't appreciate what you do. It's a numbers game. Knock on enough doors and someone will answer.

Parasite,
We've got a large presence in the Philippines. In fact, it's one of our top areas for freelancers. If you'd like, stop on over to our site. At the very least, it will give you an idea of the kind of freelance work available and how it is being approached. Hope this helps.

How about "independent developer"?
Or just "developer" and then if you're asked what your company is you say you work for yourself?
I'm also freelance but feel uncomfortable with the term. BTW CanadianGuy, I'm also a Canadian guy, working in Japan.
