colors in fireworks

in fireworks mx, i'm trying to use a light tan color. so i use the palette and select it, but it ends up reverting to either a pasty yellow or grey. it's always done this and i don't know how to fix it. adding to custom colors doesn't work.
anyone have any ideas?

did you try putting in the hex color?

nevermind, i'm an idiot. had to switch off snap to web safe.
