View Full Version : The world is about to end (BATTLE) you have 20 seconds GO! NOW!!!
senocular

The world has gone crazy (Yes, again) and the human race is killing itself off. A full force, all-out nuclear shower is about to bombard every square inch of the earth turning it into nothing more than a smoldering radioactive pile of scattered human intestine (no need to get graphic senocular) BUT THATS WHAT THIS IS ABOUT!
You have 20 seconds before the "Culture Preservation Capsul" (CPC) is launched into deep orbit in an attempt to keep the existance of the human race from being completely forgotten forever. It is up to you to, in that time, draw a visual representation of who and what mankind is/was on our time here on this earth in hopes that some distant civilization may come to find the CPC and have something to know us by.
size: 550x400
topic: who are the humans?
tools: anything goes
deadline: 20 seconds from when your first painting tool hits the canvas
GO!!!

OK, here's my masterpiece. I tried to emphasize the opposition between the barbarity of men, who created that ultimate revenge of the inanimate upon the living, and the purity of the sky and the stars, which represent men's last hope of redemption, so near and so far at the same time.

yeah 20 is tight, but its enough not to let any real skill get in the way... Anything over a minute is too much. Maybe 35-40 seconds for the next one. Does that seem ok?
alethos
February 3rd, 2003, 07:49 AM
Yeah that's a good time allotment. It allows people time to pick different colours from their swatches even! :P

maybe we should get into some speed enhancements - methods for cranking out fast drawings... keyboard shortcuts etc...

Well, my suggestions are:
-use a graphics tablet
-plan ahead
-you can have 4 colours at your fingertips in photoshop: assign red to foreground colour, blue to background, and switch between them with 'X', then switch to black and white with 'D' (That is, if the setup is allowed and not counted as part of the 30-45 secs)
-consume copious amounts of caffeine before starting

ahh..THAT's how you got the color changes so easily!
yea, 35-40 seconds would definitely allow for some color changes....btw, I already HAD a wacom...it's just.....fine, I have no excuse...

well maybe i meant we were once fish and evolved.. and we have to keep reproducing to evolve back into fish cause we would die otherwise.. because of global warming en polar ice melting and all that..
Didn't you see? :sure:
(forget senocular story about nuclear bombs, that's just made up!!):)
it is a baby :trout:

So man and woman get jiggy, and a baby boy pops out, which grows to be a man, which gets jiggy with a woman, etc...Then the men die out... I think this is a perfect portrayal of our race. Women really ARE a different species....they come from outside of our natural reproductive cycle. ;)
just kidding!!! ::raises flame-retardant shield::

it is a baby :trout: shyeah! what-ever!
We're like totally gonna blow ourselves up before global warming and all that. I mean look at the 5th element, their whole future premise revolved around using up the earths water (the sea level was further below the point it is now as seen in the distant shot of newYork) while AI concedes the polar ice caps will melt and the costal cities will be flooded, but hey, they have pleasure giving robots so their at no loss! Fact is no matter how the weather changes, we can adapt - and if not SLOWLY die off - to get that whole instant death in 20 SECONDS! you need missles baby, thats right the BOMBS, lots of em!
:)

I wish to say.. I have got nothing against woman..
Can't you read? I'm dutch!! and as everybody knows the dutch aren't against anything. :)
For those who do take offense by the picture.. the red arrow points two directions so that means they are interchangeable (if that word is correct english that is) (-:
Oh and senocalur.. furthermore.. we dutch people (crazy as we are) live beneath sea level so you can understand our concernes :)
(this last bit is actually quite serious)

Sweet battle.
Effortless and fun. I love it already.
Mines pretty obvious, and sweet easy in 20 seconds. It's two circles and some lines! and instead of dots for stars, MORE LINES! cause I was running low on time! ... And I couldn't see the dot tool and it woulda taken me too long... leave me alone. I don't need your dots!!!!

February 3rd, 2003, 09:23 PM
Wow, in my head that seems like it would take a lot less time and I coulda put more work into it... but in reality... I think I'm kinda slow on the switching colors and tools... damn me.
