What exactly do flash remoting and com server do? I know that flashcom supports the multi-user thing for flash xmlsockets.. on the macromedia products page, it says a lot more, but i don't get a word of it. Same for remoting.. "Flash Remoting allows your Flash applications to connect with your web server" doesn't tell a lot. What practical uses can it be used for?
Thanks =)

Flash Remoting comes in a few different "flavours", and they connect to web applications written in different languages. So what that means, say your company has a certain login that's written in Java or .NET, remoting lets you connect to these logics natively through Flash, meaning much faster data transfer than loadvars or xml
FlashComm is for multi-user live applications, and unlike xmlsockets, FlashComm lets you transfer video and audio from client to another. Com is really neat, I used to host a couple of nice flashcomm examples and a tic-tac-toe game I made, none online atm anywho :-/
Hope this helps
